For the first months I worked in the auditing division, where I was responsible for the auditing of the internal control structure and of the organisational structure of the major hotels and resorts in the island. A great deal of work was carried out in the analysis of the internal control system. I also carried out analyses of the organisational structure, hierarchy and decision making processes, investigating levels of integration between divisions and centralisation/decentralisation of power. As a financial analyst I evaluated financial statements, calculated ratios to compare with the industry averages and explained significant changes in statements between years, including risk evaluation and implementation of risk management procedures. Secondly I was assigned to the Business Consulting division. This was a more challenging role, operating in a new culture and managing people with a range of backgrounds and experiences. I managed prefeasibility studies for tourism to building and construction projects. My work covered all areas of the projects; information gathering, photo and data collection, market research of competitors, SWOT analysis, financial plan and cash flow analysis, break even point analysis and simulation analysis and the typing and the formatting of the final version of the reports, using the most up- to-date office automation packages.
