June: The Month of the Bride

Picture this: A beautiful blushing bride in a flowing white dress, with a garland of
white baby‟s breath and white roses set atop of a long bridal veil adorning her
head. A beautiful sight. The Church is depicted in the Bible as such a bride to our
Lord Jesus Christ. God parallels our marriage on this earth to His marriage to the
church in this way: “…Submitting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.
Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the
husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and He is
the savior of the body… Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the
Church, and gave himself for it: that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the
washing of water by the word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious
church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy
and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He
that loves his wife loves himself.” Ephesians Chapter 5: Verses 21-28.
To some women, what the Bible instructs them to do – be submissive to their
husbands – is problematic. But, I‟m glad that the main responsibility of handling
my family affairs is in the hands of my husband. It‟s first his responsibility then
mine. But remember God‟s word also says to submit to one another before it says
that wives must submit to their husbands. I take this to mean that, although the
husband has the first say in matters, the two partners need to come into agreement
on important matters. And women, savor that which is also written in the same
scripture – Husbands must love their wives as Christ loved the Church! Wives -
the fact that Christ suffered and died for His Church should make you feel very
valuable to your husbands! According to the Lord‟s instruction, they must be
willing to lay down their lives for you. That‟s a very comforting thought. And
because they love you that much, it would behoove you to listen and respect their
wishes. Of course, if your husband‟s directives conflict with your ethical beliefs
then the head in that matter should be the Holy Spirit. God‟s Word is the binding
and final authority in our house. Generally, if you both keep God‟s Word and let
the authority flow properly in your household, your entire family will be blessed
and peace will reign in your home.

This is the manner in which Christ loves the church and the manner in which we
should love and reverence each other: “As the apple tree among the trees of the
wood, so is my beloved among sons. I sat down under his shadow with great
delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. He brought me to the banqueting
house, and his banner over me is love.” Song of Solomon Chapter 2: Verse 3.

Health Tip of the Month by Dr. Jim Marcoux

Did you know that margarine is one molecule away from plastic? It contains
partially hydrogenated oil which cannot be digested in the stomach. This could
very well lead to hardening of the arteries. What is partially hydrogenated or
hydrogenated oils? It‟s the process used by food manufacturing companies to
cause their food to have a lot longer shelf life than the food without this process.
It is the process of heating oil and passing hydrogen bubbles through it. If you
fully hydrogenate, you create a solid (a fat) out of the oil. But if you stop part
way, you have a semi-solid partially hydrogenated oil that has a consistency like
butter only it‟s a lot cheaper. Because of that consistency, and because it is
inexpensive, it‟s a big favorite as a butter-substitute among food manufacturers.
Unlike butter or virgin coconut oil, hydrogenated oils contain high levels of
trans-fats. A trans-fat is an otherwise normal fatty acid that has been
“transmogrified” by high-heat processing of a free oil. The fatty acids can be
doubled-linked, cross-linked, bond-shifted, twisted or messed up in a variety of
other ways. Trans-fats are poisons, just like arsenic or cyanide. They interfere
with the metabolic processes of life by taking the place of a natural substance that
performs a critical function. And that is the definition of a poison. A great
portion of this information as well as additional information on this subject is
found on

So, read all labels - on baked goods especially - but also on candy, soups and
frozen meals. Taking time to read food labels could literally save your life! At
all costs stay far away from foods that have hydrogenated or partially
hydrogenated oil!

We‟re proud to announce Jean‟s book „War of the Spirits: Knighthood of the
Brethren‟ for ages 8-108. This book will help Believers realize the power they
have within themselves, through the Holy Spirit, to be victorious against demons
that they may encounter on a daily basis (such as depression, bitterness, pride,
jealousy, etc.) And it just may make Believers out of non-believers. This book is
not only a war story, but a love story. It shows the Lord‟s mercy, grace and
unconditional love for even the worst of hardened criminals. His heart is to draw
all people to Himself, so they may feel cherished and forgiven. War of the
Spirits: Knighthood of the Brethren illustrates God‟s overwhelming love for all
of mankind.

War of the Spirits Companion workbooks for ages 10-14 and ages 15-adult, are
also available. Individuals who donate to Still Waters International Ministries
may receive a discount based on the number of books ordered. (To qualify for
the discount, your order must be placed by calling 1-877-871-KIDS. Discount
does not apply to orders placed through the website.) Schools, Youth leaders and
Adult Bible Study groups qualify for more of a discount based on the number of
books ordered. The majority of the proceeds from Jean‟s books and War of the
Spirits products go to fund our ministry for underprivileged children. Visit our
ministry website at to view our entire “War of the
Spirits” product line or to place an order or you may call 1-877-871-KIDS for
more information. The suggested donation amounts on our website include the
cost of shipping and handling.

NEW - Coming Soon: an intriguing sequel to the first book, „War of the Spirits:
Knighthood of the Brethren.‟ It centers around a warrior princess with unusual
gifts that she uses in battle. The second book is an exciting adventure story for
ages 6 and all the way up to 106, dealing with spiritual warfare on a less graphic
keel. A third book, a swashbuckling story about pirates on the high seas, is in the
early planning stage.

We welcome you to become Supporters of Still Waters International
Ministries. It‟s especially crucial at this time to receive your prayers and
financial support. Jean‟s agent has advised us that a professor from Carnegie
Mellon University is interested creating a video game based on our War of the
Spirits books. It is urgent that we raise $3500.00 toward production costs and a
federal trademark needed for the video game. Please pray about seeding
whatever amount the Lord puts on your heart for this particular cause. It is time
that we have wholesome video games offered to young and old alike. It‟s
needed in these troubled times, amidst Dungeons and Dragons and Harry Potter
games and movies. You may send your donations to: S.W.I.M., P.O. Box 2096,
Howell, MI 48844. All donations are tax deductible.

What people are saying about ‘War of the Spirits’:

“My kids (ages 8 and 9) and I just finished your War of the Spirits book. Never
a dull moment in that book! It was very exciting. Next we‟re going to start the
workbook. We‟re all excited about that!” Anna J.

“Jean, I‟m reading your book. It‟s really good!” Sandy, age 72.

“We are looking forward to using your War of the Spirits book and workbooks
this Fall as our curriculum for the children‟s and youth groups here at
 church.” Debbie, Youth Director.

“I liked your book. I liked the sea monster and that some kids in the book were
able to move so fast from one place to another.” Elijah, age 8.

“I just did a book report on your book. I thought it was very good. I thought it
was cool that the soldiers could run and jump up really far with their boots. I
liked General Goodhart, the guy who let the kids use his abandoned train
station. He was cool. And there were things in your book that I could relate to
as a kid, like the alarm clock going off too early…” Ben, age 12.

“Jean‟s book, „War of the Spirits: Knighthood of the Brethren‟, has changed
my life. It made me keenly aware of the importance of putting on the full armor
of God. This story has the makings of a great movie and could impact many
lives, young and old alike.” Joseph Zabrosky – Author, producer, actor and
screenplay writer.

“I just finished your book, „War of the Spirits: Knighthood of the Brethren‟. It
has been my constant companion on several recent plane trips. I enjoyed the
book very much and found it a good way to learn or be reminded of Scripture
verses. You integrated the Word with the story in an engaging way that [made
me want] to keep on reading. And the fact that you used teenaged kids to be the
main characters should give the book a strong appeal across several different
age groups. I do wish God‟s blessings on the important message you are giving
us.” Dr. Alan Zimmerman, Author and motivational speaker.
