in the framework of the IEE - REPAP2020 Project
and with the support of
A one-day public participation workshop to discuss and propose a roadmap
to achieve 10% renewable energy for Malta by 2020
The European Renewable Energy Directive stipulates that each Member State has to submit its renewable
energy action plan for 2020 by 30th June 2010, which will be legally binding until 2020. Hence, it is very
important that all stakeholders join forces and team-up to contribute towards this historical moment. This is
a one-time opportunity to voice your proposals.
The workshop aims at involving all interested parties to find answers to questions such as:
• Which renewable energy (RE) technologies should feature in this action plan?
• How does the local industry and energy enterprises foresee the growth of the RE market?
• What do NGO’s have to contribute with regards to Malta’s clean energy supply?
• How do local councils envisage linking their commitments in the European Covenant of Mayors with
Malta’s RE action plan?
• How can scientists, architects and engineers contribute towards this important binding legal
document?
• Can Malta’s RE action plan become a real representation of a national consensus?
Who should participate?
Government bodies, policy makers, industry, enterprise, NGO’s, energy producers and distributors,
environmentalists, mayors and local councils, as well as engineers, architects, scientists, academics and
students, who are involved in the energy, transport and buildings sectors.
Programme:
• Keynote speakers from MEEREA (Malta), EREC (Belgium) and Fraunhofer Institute (Germany);
