1 Evaluating the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite
Hello and thank you for choosing to evaluate the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite.
ATG customers have a long history of delivering portals for employees, partners and customers, built upon the ATG Dynamo e-
Business platform. In particular, customers such as the US Army, Sony, and Barclays, have taken advantage of the flexibility and
personalization capabilities of the platform to deliver very sophisticated portals. In September 2001, ATG released the
Enterprise Portal Suite, drawing on the experiences and best practices of these and other implementations with leading
customers to deliver the most advanced and flexible framework for deploying portals across the enterprise. In a short space of
time this new product has been adopted by many of the world’s largest organizations.

providing personalized access to information and applications. To succeed, they need software that is flexible enough to
accommodate their different business systems, powerful enough to drive their many different applications, and smart enough

1.2 Introducing the ATG Ent erprise Portal Suite
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite is the only portal product that includes employee, customer, and partner portal solution sets
that can be personalized, administered, and automated by non-technical staff. ATG Scenario Personalization™ provides pre-
built e-business alerts and processes for automating common business tasks. For example, a Sales Notification scenario
automatically sends a notification to the appropriate salespeople when a new opportunity is entered into the system.
Scenarios make the Portal more useful to business users, increasing key portal performance indicators such as productivity,
adoption rate and frequency of use.
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite provides a complete set of tools for creating and managing communities to meet the
requirements of businesses. IT can delegate community administration to non-technical community leaders who manage
their work groups via simple browser-based tools that let them manage membership, add or modify pages, and configure
groupware applications such as content sharing or collaboration.
At the core of the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite is a highly personalized, secure, and scalable Portal and Relationship
Management Framework. These technologies deliver a flexible architecture for integrating the portal with ERP, CRM and other
business applications. They also support multiple industry-leading J2EE application servers, a critical requirement for portal
initiatives in large enterprises with diverse IT standards. Dynamo 5.6.1 includes native support for BEA’s WebLogic and IBM’s
WebSphere Application Servers with support for other platforms planned for later in 2002.
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite also provides an easy way to extend portal functionality though standard components or
‘gears.’ A broad range of gears now ship with the product, including new Web services and HTML content gears. The new Web
services client gear allows for SOAP-based Web services integration providing support for emerging forms of Web
collaboration. Also new is the HTML Content Gear that provides the ability to reflect Web sites in portal pages. The gears can
be quickly configured to display any Web content within a portal, whether it is published inside or outside of the organization.
Many other gears are also available from our partners in the ATG Gear Alliance.

1.2.1 Unique Benefits
       · The ability to maximize the number of people using and getting value from the portal though sophisticated
community control, security, analysis, portal marketing tools and business alerts and processes.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 5 of 50
       · The significantly reduced investment costs of a single portal product to run employee, consumer and partner
portals. Multiple users types, countries, divisions and technology architectures can all be supported from a
single product. ATG’s portal is compatible with BEA, IBM, SAP, Siebel, Oracle, PeopleSoft and most other
enterprise software used in businesses today.
       · The significantly reduced costs of ownership with a product architecture that doesn’t break as your business
grows and remains as responsive to your business needs as the first day you bought it.
§ The competitive advantage and productivity gains from the rapid automation of business processes
and the delivery of new business knowledge by business managers or even users themselves,
creating less demand on the IT department.
§ The confidence that sophisticated communities, portal access and personalization rights can be
rapidly set up and easily controlled.

       · Greater ROI – Through the use of ATG Scenario Personalization™, our Portal allows companies to do more
than provide access to information and applications through a single personalized interface; it is the only
Portal product that allows companies to automate business processes across disparate applications.
Companies can more easily reduce costs and increase productivity with process integration and automation
that is managed through a visual user interface accessible even to non-technical users.

       · More Efficient Use of IT Resources – By delegating a rich set of community management and configuration
responsibilities directly to non-technical community leaders, the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite greatly reduces
the IT burden of operating your enterprise portal infrastructure.
       · Portal Analytics – Our Portal has the facilities to measure the Key Performance Indicators of the portal in
order to equip senior management with the information they need on portal adoption and usage patterns.
They can then employ Scenario Personalization™ to instantly improve the processes that support these key
         metrics.
       · Rapid Response to Business Change – Our Portal is capable of scaling to handle millions of named users and
hundreds of thousands of concurrent users. Changes to organizational structure or business processes can be
accommodated quickly and without the need for engineering. The portal can support the ongoing addition of
         new functionality.
For more information about the important features and capabilities of the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite, see the section titled,
ATG Enterprise Portal Suite Technical Overview, that follows in this guide.

1.3 Quick Terminology
Before we get started, just a quick terminology set.
Portal Page – A web page that aggregates content and services for display to portal users. Portal users often have the ability to
control the content and services that appear on their portal page and the layout and display of that information on the page.
Gear - A component that integrates enterprise content or an application into a portal and renders the content within a portal
page for user interaction. For example, the Document Exchange gear is used to share and publish content to portal users in
this demo.
Community - A set of pages with an associated membership that provides context for collaboration and focuses access to
selected content and services. For example, Human Resources, Marketing, and Softball are all communities in this demo.
Portal User - A user with a user profile that can log in and access all or selected sections of the portal. Portal users can belong to
"organizations" and have "roles" that determine what communities, pages, and gears they can access. Sally, Ivan, Kenny, are
just a few of the portal users in this demo.
Organization - A formal grouping of users based on functional role or project participation. For example: Finance, Marketing,
etc. Organizations are usually defined as profiles in user directories, like a SQL database or an LDAP user directory.
Role - A named privilege that can be assigned to a portal user or organization. For example, Sally has the Community Leader
role for the Human Resources community. She can configure the community by creating pages, selecting gears for use within
the community, and defining the membership of the community.
Customization - The ability for a user to determine the information that they want to see and how they would like it presented
to them (i.e., layouts, gears, etc.). This is different from personalization, where the enterprise uses information about the user
to determine the information that the user sees. Customization can be considered a form of user profiling.
Alert - A short message sent to a portal user when an event occurs within a portal application (i.e., someone uploads a
document). Portal users can subscribe to alerts. Alerts are a way to facilitate collaboration and simple workflows within a
portal.

Enterprise Portal Platform for all of your portal initiatives: customer, partner, and employees.

The following is a summary of the important features provided by the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite.

   Portal Application Framework (PAF)
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite uses a J2EE infrastructure called the Portal Application Framework (PAF) that enables
portal users, administrators, and developers to create, deploy, customize, and administer portal applications for a
   variety of communities.
   The PAF features:
         · The most advanced software-based personalization capabilities available in the form of highly configurable
              business rules and Scenario Personalization™
         · Advanced alert management to reach out to portal users via the web, email or wireless messages
         · Distributed administration and management of communities, page layout, content and functionality
         · Configurable caching of repository, database, and other content and data sources to speed portal page
              rendering
         · Enterprise Application Integration through the Dynamo Application Integrator (DAI) as well as integration with
legacy, mainframe and enterprise applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning and Sales Force
Automation tools through the Dynamo Business Integrator (DBI). Secure, granular access managed by flexible
              user authentication methods
         · Asynchronous execution of Gears (Portal content or application elements) for faster page rendering speed

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 8 of 50
         · Logging and analysis of user activity and portal actions and events
         · Page templates created by Portal Administrator determine navigation
         · User customization of portal pages
         · Multi-channel delivery, including Web (HTML), email and wireless (WML and SMS)
         · Internationalization support for multiple cultures and languages

   Solution Sets
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite includes three fully functional portal applications that may be used as models or
starting points for your customized portal applications:
         · Employee - A business-to-enterprise (B2E) portal
         · Partner - A channel management portal
             · Customer - A consumer-wireless portal

   Gears
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite delivers content and functionality using discrete J2EE-based modules called Gears. ATG
Foundation Gears provided with the suite include:
             · Alerts - Displays notifications generated by events occurring within the portal
             · Bookmarks - Lists user-configured URLs
             · Calendar Publisher - Displays monthly list of important events
             · Discussion Board - Lets users participate in threaded, online discussions with other users
             · DocExchange - Allows users to publish and manage documents from a single location
             · HTML Screen Scraper – Lets users bring remote web content into their portal pages.
             · Polls - Allows administrators to gauge user sentiments through poll questions and results
             · Quicklinks - Publishes relevant Web sites for a community
             · Repository View - Provides a read-only view of a data repository
             · Web Services Client – Lets users bring a remote Web Service into their portal pages using the Simple
               Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
             · XML Feed - Captures and redirects syndicated content from an external source
In addition to ATG Foundation Gears, the Gear Alliance Network adds a wide range of third-party capabilities including
business intelligence, collaboration, content syndication, and Web services. See the “The ATG Gear Alliance” chapter in
   this guide for more information.

   Gear management
Gear functionality is separated from the portal framework to make it easy to add, modify, and remove Gears as
necessary. Gears have several configurable characteristics that determine:
             · Which content feeds or repositories they access
             · Which users or user communities have access to the functionality they provide
             · Display characteristics, alerting capabilities, and search capabilities

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 9 of 50
   Rapid development and deployment architecture
By separating the portal application framework from Gears, the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite enables higher degrees of
   customization with fewer interdependencies.
          · Gears can be added or removed independently without having to bring the portal system down for
            changes.
          · Portal administrators and community leaders can make changes on the fly.
          · Open standard J2EE services and methodologies such as Servlets and JSP Tag Libraries simplify
            application modification.
          · Diverse Web utilities from different sources can be integrated into a single enterprise wide application.

   Community management
The Portal Application Framework provides built-in support for communities and a complete set of tools for creating
and managing communities that meet the business requirements of enterprise portal applications.
          · Delegated community administration by non-technical community leaders via simple browser-based
tools for community configuration, membership, pages and content
          · Community work spaces for content sharing, group collaboration, and communication
          · Different community types (including "organizational" and "communities of interest")
          · Community-based roles for access rights within communities
          · Flexible access control configuration for communities (universal, members only, and role-based
            access)
          · Flexible community membership models (automated, request and approval, and closed communities)
          · Community-specific look-and-feel (with branding and templates)
          · Community listing and navigation personalized to users based on roles in the Favorite Communities
            Gear
          · Community membership listings available for collaboration via the Community Members Gear•
          · ATG Foundation Gears for document exchange and discussion to support collaboration
          · Organizations and individuals associated with communities via community roles

   Alert management
The Portal Application Framework and Gears within the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite use alerts and "Portal Events" to
automate business processes based on user behavior and to notify portal users of important events.
          · The PAF and Gears can be configured to send JMS messages that are dispatched to the Scenario Server.
          · The Scenario Server can respond with an appropriate notification message (via e-mail or an Alert Gear)
            or relationship management activity.
          · Scenarios provide a configurable alerting solution to fit the unique requirements of your employee,
            partner or customer portal.
          · Predefined scenario elements to enable speedy deployment of this powerful functionality.
          · Messages or relationship management activities can be directed at a subset of portal users – specific
communities, organizations, or roles, or select individuals.
          · The Portal Suite's user interface allows the Portal Administrator and trusted Portal Community Leaders
to define alerting behaviors within the portal and communities.
          · Portal Users can choose the means by which they receive alerts: a My Alerts gear, email, etc.

   Customization
The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite enables portal users to customize the appearance and functionality of the portal and its
   component Gears.
          · Customization of communities delegated to Portal Community Leaders by Portal Administrators.

This Quick Tour is designed to give you an introduction to the capabilities and unique features of the ATG Enterprise Portal
Suite. It provides a view of the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite product from four different perspectives.
       · Portal Administrator: An IT person responsible for the installation, configuration and on-going maintenance
         of a portal solution.
       · Community Leader: A user within the portal who is entrusted with privileges to configure and lead a work
area for collaboration and exchange within the portal for an organizational or some other type of community
         grouping.
       · Portal User: A user within the portal. The Portal User can be an employee, customer or partner of the
enterprise that implements the portal solution. In the case of the Quick Tour, the portal
       · Portal Manager: The business or IT leader who has sponsored the portal solution and is accountable for its
         success.
The Quick Tour is designed to take approximate 30-40 minutes and assumes that you’ve installed and started the ATG
Enterprise Portal Suite. See the section “Quick Tour Preparation” in this guide for more information about how to download,

3.2.1 Portal Administrator Experience
It is hard to be in IT today. Rapid technology development, rising expectations, and reduced budgets are real challenges. The
last thing that you want is for your Portal to add to your IT headache and burn costly IT resources. The ATG Enterprise Portal
Suite provides a robust set of administration tools, capabilities and options that adapt to address your current and future
business requirements and realities. The Portal Application Framework supports three levels of administration.
       · For IT administrators, the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite provides a robust set of tools for managing and
         configuring portal applications.
       · IT administrators can delegate community administration capabilities to trusted portal users facilitating self-
administering communities that require little or no IT intervention.
       · Depending on the configuration of the portal and communities within the portal, portal users can access a
number of self-service tools, which allow them to manage their own pages, profile information, and
         subscriptions within the portal.
These flexible administration capabilities are highlighted throughout the Quick Tour.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 18 of 50
µ Easy Administration: Conserve costly IT resources and lower your Total Cost of Ownership with a robust set of end-user-
accessible administration tools for delegated administration capabilities and end-user self-service.

Situation Description: You’re an IT person working for a company called ROIMax. You’ve selected the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite
as your enterprise portal platform. You’ve been asked to set up a work area for the cross-functional employee workgroup that
is tasked with formulating a new ISO 9002 initiative within the ROIMax organization.
To create the new community for the ISO9002 Working Group, do the following:
1. If the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite is not already running, follow the instructions outlined in the Starting the ATG
Enterprise Portal Suite section of this guide to start it up.
2. Select the Programs>ATG> Tools>Portal Administration Tools from the Windows Start menu and login with the
     following user name and password.
     User name: admin
     Password: admin
The Communities tab is the default page within the Portal Administration interface.

Notice that all three of the sample applications can be administrated through this Administration interface.
These different portals are being hosted in one Dynamo instance, and are partitioned through the use of
community folders. Although each portal has a very different purpose, audience, look and feel, and application
set, you can easily share applications and content across all three portals, greatly streamlining your IT operations
     overhead.

µ A True Enterprise Portal Platform: One platform for all of your portal needs: employee, partner, and customer portals. By
leveraging a common set of tools and integrations to build and manage all of your portals you can quickly address business
requirements and save money at the same time.

The Portal Administration interface contains a number of tabs that provide a portal administrator within an IT
organization the ability to access the following functions for registering and managing resources for the Portal
     Application Framework:

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 19 of 50
Communities Create and manage communities for organizations and interest groups. Delegate community
management tasks ranging from configuration, membership, page configuration and the
                                      applications available with a community.

Page Templates Register and manage portal page templates with the Portal Application Framework. Page
Templates are JavaServer Pages (JSPs) that define the branding and navigation standards to be
used within the entire portal or selected portal communities. You can use any standard JSP
                                      editor to create them.

Layout Templates Register and manage layout templates that enable portal end-users to manage the display of
gears within their portal pages. Two-column, three-column, one-thirds two-thirds, etc. are
examples of layout templates. As with page templates, layout templates are JSPs.

Gear Title Templates Register and manage templates that manage the standard display and format of the decorative
title and border for gears appearing within portal pages.

Gears Register and configure gears, which are the building blocks for portals. Gears are separate,
stand-alone, Web applications that integrate content and services into portal pages. A gear can
be a JSP, a Servlet, or a Dynamo Server Page (DSP).

Color Palettes Color Palettes are the colors that are used for displaying information in the portal gears. Each
color palette defines a set of colors to use for text, background, links, gear title bars, etc.
Community Leaders and Community Members can choose which color palette they want to
use for their view of a portal page.

Style Sheets Register and manage the cascading style sheets (CSS) that control the display of text within
gears. Style sheets provide formatting information for gears to use. The formatting information
may include font face, size, and other attributes. Community Leaders can choose which style
sheet to use for their community.

µ Future Proof: An open, flexible, standards-based framework that scales and adapts as your portal solution evolves. The ATG
Portal Framework is a J2EE application that manages a number of standards-based components that provide an unlimited range
of flexibility to meet the ever-changing business requirements of your portal.

3. Click the Gears tab. The Gears tab lists the “foundation” gears that ship with the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite and
that are registered for use with the Portal Application Framework. From the Gears tab, you can register new
gears, configure gears, and delete gears from the framework. Customers can build their own gears or purchase

µ Out-of-the-box Functionality: The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite ships with three sample portal applications, a complete set of
gears, and e-Business Scenarios that automate common business processes and implement default alerting capabilities. All of
these resources are available out-of-the-box to help you get your portal up and running in a snap.

4. Click configure next to the “Web Services Client” gear to upload and save a WSDL (Web Services Description
Language) file specifying a simple horoscope service into the gear definition.
Click browse and find the WDSL file located at:
     <Dynamo5.6.1>\Portal\soapclient\doc\HoroscopeService.wsdl
Click upload to configure the Web Services gear.

The Web Services Client gear is just one of the many “baseline” gears that ship with the ATG Enterprise Portal
Suite. This gear allows you to host a remote web service within a portal page. The Web Services Client gear
configures itself to interact with a remote web service based on the information in the WSDL file associated with
     the web service.
5. Return to the Communities tab and click New Community to save a new community in the ROIMax portal folder
     with the following attributes:
     Community Name: iso9002
     Web-friendly URL: iso9002

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 22 of 50
When you return to the Communities tab, the new community appears and is listed as inactive.
6. Click gears next to the iso9002 community and assign the following gear folders for use within the community:
Content Publishing and Syndication, Navigation and Web Services. When you are done, click save to return to the
     Communities tab.

The organization of gears and communities within folders provides administrators with a flexible way to
manage and partition portals, ensuring that only the right gears and capabilities are available in the right
     communities.
7. Click edit next to the iso9002 community to configure the new community and change the community’s Status
     to Active.

The Community Settings tab provides the ability to configure the behavior of community capabilities to meet
the unique business requirements of each community within the portal. Take a moment to familiarize yourself
with some of the different configuration options for a community with the ATG Portal Application Framework.
8. Click the Communities Members tab and then the Leader tab to assign a Leader for the new community.

You can assign a portal user as a leader for a community; thereby giving the user the ability to configure the
community, control the membership of the community, and control the pages, content and services within the
     community.

µ Delegated Administration: Lower administrative costs and give users more control with the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite. The
Portal Suite provides the tools and capabilities to offload costly IT administrators from day-to-day administration responsibilities.

9. Click + add/remove individuals and then the Search button to list portal user profiles. Designate Ivan as the
Leader of the iso9002 community by clicking add next to Ivan’s name and then click the Back to Community
Leaders link to return to the previous screen.

10. Click the Done button in the Community Members tab to complete the process.
11. Click the Logout tab from the main Portal Administration interface to log out and close your browser.
At this point the IT administrator can send an email to Ivan notifying him that he is now the Community Leader for the
iso9002 community and that it is ready for him to configure. The work of the IT administrator is done.

3.2.2 Community Leader Experience
Situation Description: Your name is Ivan and you’ve recently been appointed as the leader of the new ISO9002 Working Group
at ROIMax. You’ve just recently received an email from IT notifying you that a new ISO9002 community has been created and
you’ve been designated as the “leader” of the community. You can now log into the ROIMax intranet portal and configure the
new ISO9002 community to meet the unique business needs of the ISO9002 Working Group.
1. If you have not already done so, perform all of the steps in the Portal Administrator Experience section of this
guide before working through the steps outlined in this section.
2. Select the Programs>ATG>ATG Portals>ROIMax Employee Portal from the Windows Start menu and login with
the following user name and password.
      User name: ivan
      Password: ivan

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 26 of 50
Ivan’s personal home portal page within the ROIMax intranet portal appears. Looks like a portal right? A couple
     of points of note:
§ The page template for the ROIMax intranet portal incorporates branding, navigational elements, and
portal services (i.e., alert subscription, self-service profile editing) along the top and side of the portal
                    page.
§ By default, a two-column layout template organizes the gears available to Ivan. Ivan can choose the
Customize button to change the layout, gears, and colors on the page.
As mentioned previously, page templates and layout templates are JSPs that an IT administrator can register
with the Portal Application Framework via the Portal Administration interface. Use any JSP editor to create the
templates that enforce your corporate branding and navigation standards.
3. Click All Communities within the Favorite Communities gear.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 27 of 50
The Favorite Communities gear lists all of the communities of which Ivan is a member and all of the
communities that Ivan can access within the ROIMax portal. Note that Ivan is the Leader of several communities
within the ROIMax portal and can access the administration capabilities for these communities from the
     Favorite Communities gear.
4. Click the iso9002 community link to go to the new community.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 28 of 50
As you can see, the community needs some work to get the right page template, branding and gears in place,
and as Leader of this community, Ivan is the right guy to do it.
5. Click the Administer link to access the administration capabilities for the iso9002 community.

The Community Settings tab for the iso9002 community appears and Ivan can configure the community to meet
the unique business requirements of the ISO 9002 Working Group at ROIMax. To configure the community, edit
     the following settings.
§ Request for Membership: Select “Allow membership requests and notify community leader.” This
setting determines the membership model for the community. Community Leaders have the
flexibility to assign the following membership models: users can automatically subscribe themselves
to a community, the community leader can be the gatekeeper, or, for a closed community, do not
                    allow membership requests.
§ Page Template: Select the “ROIMax page template.” Community Leaders can select their own custom
page template to apply selected branding and navigation standards at the community level or adopt
                    the corporate standard templates.
§ Gear Title Template: Select the “ROIMax gear title template.”
§ Customization: Select “Allow users to customize page.” Community Leaders have granular control
over user customization capabilities within a community and can restrict customization on the
                    community and page level.
§ Access Control: Leave access control as “Guest, Member, and Leader.” Granular security model: can be
set at the community, page, gear, or gear function level. 5 levels of access.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 29 of 50
µ Robust, Flexible Framework: The ATG Portal Application Framework adapts to wide range of community requirements within
customer, partner and employee portals. Portal administrators and community leaders have control over community access,
branding, membership models, and even customization control to meet to the unique requirements of their communities.

6. Click the Community Members tab to add Sandy Pieta and Kenny Wallensen as members of the community. The
Community Leader can assign one or more organizations and individuals as members of the Community. In
communities where users can request memberships, community leaders like Ivan have the tools to
     accept/decline membership requests.

µ Multiple Community Types: The ATG Portal Application Framework provides the ability to have organizational communities
(i.e., finance, human resources, etc.) or communities of interest (i.e., fine wines club, softball community, etc.). The ability to map
communities to arbitrary organization and individual profiles within a SQL database or LDAP user directory provides unlimited
flexibility for community design within a portal. This is important for the varying requirements in customer, partner and employee
portals.

7. Click the Community Pages tab. A Home page has been created as the default page. Click the edit link associated
     with the default Home page.

8. Click the + add / - remove gears link to add some gears to the iso9002 community.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 30 of 50
9. Click the Calendar Publisher link to add this gear to the community. A configuration screen appears so that you
can configure the gear within the community.

Notice that when a Community Leader places a gear into a community, they can determine who in the
community can view and interact with the gear. They can also “share” a gear that they place in their community

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 31 of 50
with other communities. This is a simple, yet powerful way to allow communities to publish content to each
     other.
Click Done to continue adding gears to the community.

µ Granular Security: The ATG Portal Application Framework provides the ability to configure user access to communities, portal
pages, gears, and functionality within gears based on user roles. The goal of providing this level of this granularity is to facilitate a
flexible security solution that easily maps to the security policies and procedures within an enterprise or as required by a particular
business context. Administrators also have the ability to delegate management and maintenance of access control to Community
Leaders, allowing them to set security policies for their specific portal communities and offload costly IT resources.

10. Follow the same procedure as outlined above to add the following Gears to the iso9002 community: Document
Exchange, Community Members, Web Services Client, and HTML Screen Scraper.

When you are done adding gears, click the < Back to choose content link to continue setting up the Home page
for the iso9002 community. Click Done to continue adding gears to the community.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 32 of 50
11. Click the configure link for the HTML Screen Scraper gear.
Rename the gear to “Google Search” so that the gear is properly labeled in the user experience and press the
Configure button at the bottom of the “Configure Gear – Basics” page to move on to advanced configuration.
12. Under the Basic section, select the Change values link. Set the URL to display on shared page to
http://www.google.com. Then return to the Content page.

µ Robust Application Integration Platform: The HTML Screen Scraper gear is just 1 way to integrate content and services into the
ATG Enterprise Portal Suite. Integration options range from additional gears (i.e., Web Services Client, Repository View, etc.), to J2EE

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 33 of 50
integration interfaces provided by the ATG Dynamo e-Business Platform (Data Anywhere, XML, JMS, EJBs, etc.) and also the
Dynamo Application Integrator. The integration options range from the rapid, lightweight solutions to truly transactional
integrations.

13. Back on the Content page select all the gears to be displayed by placing a check mark next to them.
14. Click the Next -> button to access the Layout page and arrange the gears as shown below.

The layout templates that appear on the Layout page control the layout of gears on a portal page within a
community. The Community Leader can select the default layout for a page within the community. If they so
choose, they can also allow community users to customize their gear layouts on a page-by-page basis within the
community. Layout templates are JSPs that IT Administrators can create with any JSP editor and register with the
ATG Portal Application Framework using the Portal Administration interface.
15. Click the Next -> button to access the Color page and select the “Classic” color setting for the Home page of the
iso9002 community. As with the page layout, the Community Leader can set the default color and allow
    community users to override it.
16. Click the Done button until you return to the newly configured iso9002 community.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 34 of 50
You are now done with your responsibilities as a Community Leader. You can now start working and collaborating with the
other members of the iso9002 group.

3.2.3 Portal User Experience
Situation Description: Your name is still Ivan. Sure, you are a Community Leader and have special privileges within some portal
communities, but you are also just a Portal User in other portal communities. You’ve got a couple of things to do within the
portal today.
1. If you have not already done so, perform all of the steps in the Community Leader Experience section of this guide
before working through the steps outlined in this section.
2. Within the iso9002 community, click the Edit button on the Web Services Client gear to configure the Horoscope
service that will display your personal horoscope. Dates must be entered in numeric format.

µ Web Services Support: The Web Services Client gear provides the ability to incorporate a remote WebService into a portal page.
It uses the SOAP protocol to access information provided by a specified remote Web Service and render the information in a portal
page. The gear leverages parameters identified in the WSDL file for a Web Service to auto-configure the form that portal users
must fill-in to interact with the Web Service.

3. Also within the iso9002 community, schedule a new event for the community within the Calendar gear.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 35 of 50
Be sure to target the event for the iso9002 community. Once you’ve created and saved the event it should
appear within the iso9002 community calendar.
4. Go to the Home community and notice the new alert from the iso9002 community in your Alerts gear. This alert
was sent to all members of the iso9002 community by the calendar gear in the iso9002 community when you
scheduled the event. The My Alerts gear aggregates alerts sent to you from across the ROIMax portals. It
aggregates alerts sent to communities of which you are a member (i.e., iso9002), organizations of which you are
a member (i.e., Human Resources), roles that you have within the portal (i.e., Leader) and alerts that are sent
     specifically to you.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 36 of 50
µ Business Process Integration – From Passive Portal to Active Portal: The ATG Enterprise Portal Suite integrates Community,
Collaboration and Personalization capabilities to provide a robust, flexible way to integrate, drive and automate Business
Processes. The Alerting capabilities within the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite are based on ATG’s e-Business Scenarios to provide
maximum flexibility to implement the alerting system that meets the unique business requirements and processes.

5. Take a moment to look at the ROIMax page template within the Home community.
§ Ivan only has rights to Customize the community, not to Administer the community. That’s because
Ivan is not the Community Leader of the Home community within the ROIMax portal.
§ Also note the ROIMax Mission graphic. The next few steps will demonstrate how user behavior with
a portal (i.e., interactions with gears, customization, etc.) can drive personalization.
6. Go to the HR community and download the “401k Plan Overview” document from the HR Resources gear (at the
     bottom of the page).

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 37 of 50
To download the “401K Plan Overview” document from the HR Resources gear, click the 401K Plan Overview link.
This brings you to an information page on the 401K Plan Overview document from which you can download the
     actual presentation.
The HR Resources gear is a Document Exchange gear that allows users within a community to publish, download
and discuss documents within a community. As you saw with the Calendar Publisher gear, user behavior within
the Document Exchange gear can send alerts that notify the new community of newly published content, etc.
7. Return to the Human Resources community and notice that the ROIMax Mission image has been replaced by an
image for the Quincy Funds 401K plan manager. This display of this personalized image results from you
expressing an interest in the “401K Plan Overview” document.

3.2.4 Portal Manager Experience
Situation Description: You are the Business or IT owner of the portal. You need to understand if the portal is delivering a return
on your investment. You need to know what is working within the portal and what is not.
1. If you have not already done so, perform all of the steps in the Portal User Experience section of this guide before
working through the steps outlined in this section.
2. Select the Programs>ATG>Tools>ATG Control Center from the Windows Start menu and login with the following
     user name and password.
     User name: marketing
     Password: marketing

The ATG Control Center is a tool for business users, administrators and developers who are responsible for
assembling and managing a Web Site on the ATG Dynamo e-Business Platform. The main screen of the ATG
     Control Center appears as follows.

As the marketing user, you have access to the following commands from the main ATG Control Center menu.

People and Organizations Create and manage profiles for individual users and organizations
within the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite.

automate business processes, capture key business indicators for portal
success and manage personalization interactions with portal users over
                                              time within the portal.

To learn more about the ATG Control Center, see the ATG Dynamo Business User’s guide in the ATG Enterprise
     Portal Suite documentation set.
3. Select Scenario> Scenarios from the main ATG Control Center menu to access the Scenario Manager. The
Scenario Manager is the drag-and-drop interface for building and managing the e-Business scenarios for your
     portal application.

4. To see the scenario that drives the Quincy Funds 401K image when a user in the ROIMax portal downloads the
“401K Plan Overview” presentation, click the Promotion scenario in the ROIMax scenario folder.

ATG Enterprise Portal SuiteEvaluation Guide Page 41 of 50
In this scenario, an image (.jpg file) is shown in a named location (known as a slot) with the ROIMax page
template when a user downloads the document from the HR Resources gear and the document has the name
     “401K Plan Overview.”
This is just one scenario for personalization with the scenario. You can create your own to meet the unique
business needs of your audience. Use them to track portal metrics, automate and integrate business processes,
deliver personalized content and experiences to portal users, etc.
When you are done viewing this scenario, select the File>Close menu command.

µ Robust Personalization with e-Business Scenarios: Portals are all about efficiently managing and maximizing relationships.
Whether the goal of your portal is to maximize the productivity of employees, maximize yield from partners, or lower interactions
costs with your customers you need robust personalization to succeed. To that end, the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite leverages the
ATG Dynamo e-Business Platform and the power of e-Business Scenarios to manage personalized interactions within the portal,
automate business processes, and measure key success indicators of your portal (i.e., user logins, community usage, document
downloads, etc.).
5. To see the scenario that drives alerting within the ROIMax portal, click the Portal Calendar scenario in the Portal
     scenario folder.

This scenario has three segments that wait for a user to create a calendar event, edit a calendar event, or delete a
calendar event. When one of these actions occurs within a Calendar gear in the ROIMax portal, the scenario
sends an alert to the member of the community in which the event occurred.
When you are done viewing this scenario, select the File>Close menu command.
6. To see the scenario that collects key success indicators and metrics within the ROIMax portal, click the Portal
Usage scenario in the Portal scenario folder.

This scenario has three segments that wait for a user to view a page in a community, download a document
from a gear, or view a calendar event. When one of these actions occurs within the ROIMax portal, the scenario
records the metric for charting and analysis.
7. By default, the Portal Usage scenario is disabled. To enable this scenario, select the File>Enable Scenario menu
     command.

Once enabled, this scenario records all community page visits, document downloads from Document Exchange
gears, and calendar event views for Calendar Publisher gears within the ROIMax portal.
8. To see the Portal Usage scenario in action, spend some time exploring the ROIMax portal as the following users
and download documents from the various Document Exchange gears across the Human Resources, Marketing
     and Softball communities.

with their portal initiatives built on the ATG Enterprise Portal Suite, ATG Professional Services offers the Portal Jumpstart
service package.

4.3.1 Portal Jumpstart
The Portal Jumpstart is a multi-faceted services program designed to help you establish immediate momentum in
implementing the ATG Portal Suite. This three to four week engagement includes education, mentoring, installation,
requirements gathering, architecture, and development elements designed to help you take full advantage of the ATG Portal
Suite in the shortest time possible. ATG consultants will develop a portal roadmap for you based on an analysis of your
business requirements. Our technical consultants will work with you side-by-side to complete an initial set of portal tasks.
They will identify architectural requirements and integration points, summarize initial design concepts, and provide
recommendations for steering the project forward.
As the ATG team works with you to identify and prioritize requirements and develop a preliminary architecture, a set of
specific features will be selected as the focal point for an initial joint development effort. Working together with your team,
we'll build code modules to illustrate key elements of the design, prove specific approaches, and illuminate selected
characteristics of the envisioned site.
This program also includes a one-day, on-site class to introduce your team to all the capabilities of Dynamo.
