What is the SCA?

The SCA governs canoesport in Scotland, providing its members with an
opportunity to have their views represented at both local and national level. It
exists to promote all branches of canoesport and our aim to have

              More People, More Paddling, More Often
Clubs are the backbone of the sport in Scotland and the development of
Clubs is seen as crucial to the future success of canoeing in Scotland at all
levels.


Can we Join?

Canoe Clubs may apply to affiliate to this Association if they are formed for
the interest of collective concern between canoeists, and provide a copy of
their Constitution with their application. (Look at www.helpforclubs.org.uk for
information on forming a Club and writing a Constitution)

(Associate membership is available for all other appropriate, non-canoe club
organisations).


What is in it for our Club?

          Third Party Liability Insurance for registered Club members to
           £5,000,000
          Club details listed in the SCA Yearbook and on the SCA Website
           www.canoescotland.com and reciprocal links to Club websites
          Access to the Club e mail group for regular updates (Emailing:
           e.groups@canoescotland.com)
          Right to organise events (with permission) under the auspices of
           the SCA
          Copy of the SCA Annual Yearbook
          Scottish Paddler, official newsletter of SCA every quarter
          Canoe Focus, official magazine of BCU every two months
          Certificate of Affiliation and Insurance
           Support and professional advice from SCA Staff including the
            Access and Environment Officer, 4 Development Coaches and the
            Coaching Development Officer
           Discipline specific advice
           Free Small Adverts for all Club members in “Scottish Paddler”
           Advice and help with paddling related queries
           Services of SCA Office

The small print

1. Affiliation runs for 12 calendar months from the last day of the month in which successful
   applications are administered.
2. All benefits of affiliation, including Third Party Liability Insurance, cease at midnight on the
   date of expiry.
3. The SCA is a Company Limited by Guarantee. All members are required to complete
   and sign a declaration accepting liability for their share (£1) in the unlikely event of the
   Association’s liquidation.
4. Any information supplied will be kept on computer for the purposes as registered under
   the Data Protection Act 1984.
