In 1128 Roger de Clinton became Bishop of Lichfield. He was responsible
for replacing the wooden cathedral with a fine stone building. He joined
the Crusades and died in Antioch in Syria. The Bishop of Lichfield’s coat
of arms is similar to that of Jerusalem in memory of Bishop Clinton’s
crusade. Geoffrey de Clinton lived at Kenilworth Castle in the 12th
Century.
