                                                  Types of Contract


NJC Contracts
For all full or part time staff carrying out a regular pattern of work under National Joint Conditions for local
authorities on a permanent or fixed term basis

Term Time Only Contracts
For all full or part time staff carrying out regular hours under National Joint Conditions for local authorities on a
permanent basis, during term time only.

Temporary Contracts
For staff employed on a short term basis under local terms and conditions. These conditions reflect NJC terms but
exclude access to annual leave or occupational sick pay.

Casual Contracts
Where the work pattern is of a genuinely casual nature and there is no mutuality of obligation, i.e. there should not
be a regular pattern of work and the employee would not be penalised if they declined to work when asked. There
is no entitlement to occupational sick pay or annual leave. For leisure staff, holiday pay is paid as an hourly rate
and will be shown as a separate figure in the contract.

Sessional Contracts
For instructors, coaches etc who carry out regular classes/sessions who are not employed on an income share
basis. For new staff on income share they should be self employed and a contract will not be issued.


                                             Annual Leave Entitlement

Increased by 1 day from 1/4/09 as a result of the agreement with Unison regarding the new Pay Policy.
