TAMWORTH STREET WARDENS What do we do ?? The following lists just some of the main things the Street Wardens do: - Street Wardens carry out High Visibility Patrols on both Foot, Bike and via Arriva Buses throughout the Town but particularly in areas where problems have been identified or brought to their attention. This may mean that you might not see them patrol your street very often but they ARE patrolling in other areas where their presence may help deter Crime and the Fear of Crime. To actively work with all members of the Community Safety Partnership to help to deal with cases of Anti Social Behaviour. The Wardens will attempt to identify and if possible talk with people who are engaging in acts of Anti Social Behaviour but where this is not possible they will attempt to gather Evidence that can be used to take action against these individuals. Wardens can also act as Professional witnesses where necessary. To provide advice and support to Residents and Visitors whilst on patrol and to refer any issues they are unable to advise on to the correct Agency. To take part in crime reduction/prevention projects as they arise both with Staffordshire Police and many other partners. To patrol Tamworth Borough Council Town Centre car parks and specified Housing parking areas and issue Excess charge notices or warnings where necessary. To carry out “running repairs” to the Pay & Display Car park machines as needed. To visit each week ALL of the Towns Play Areas and carry out a safety inspection of each one – arranging for any work required as necessary. To help to support resident associations and community groups by actively visiting and getting involved with them as and when invited to. To work with existing and help promote new Neighbourhood Watch groups in streets throughout the Town To identify Projects to improve facilities for ALL members of the Community and to look for solutions to particular problems in areas and work with ALL Residents to find acceptable ways of dealing with these problems. To actively engage with the community and encourage good citizenship. Including challenging cases of poor citizenship e.g. littering To identify Local Environment issues such as broken streetlights, litter graffiti, public safety issues and to report them to the appropriate agency. To work with Environmental Health officers in dealing with fly tipping, abandoned vehicles, noise and pollution complaints. To work with Housing officers in dealing with estate management issues e.g. tenancy breaches WE DO MANY OTHER THINGS BUT ABOVE ALL ELSE WE ARE YOUR WARDENS – WE ARE HERE TO HELP AND SUPPORT ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY !!
