What is a Moodle?
Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a
Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It has
become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online
dynamic web sites for their students. IT103 at Woodbury is facilitated by a private
Moodle website:
www.joeschmittonline.com
Students in this class are required to create an account on this website in order to
participate in the course. The following activities are handled through Moodle:
Homework Assignments
Homework Submissions
Reading Assignments
Lab Assignments
Lab Submissions
Archive of lecture slides
Archive of most in-class handouts
Group Work

Messaging – Moodle is the primary communication tool for this class
Because Moodle is not an integrated part of the ITT system, grading is tracked outside of
the website. You will receive regular hard copy grade updates after the third week of the
quarter.
