PRESS RELEASE Lehman Brothers file for bankruptcy protection – joint statement concerning impact on Austrian financial institutions
(Vienna, September 15, 2008) As a consequence of Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy protection, the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) and Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) are maintaining close contact with their respective partner authorities at the international level as well as with Austrian credit and insurance institutions. According to initial enquiries with Austria’s major financial institutions, credit exposure of these organisations to Lehman Brothers ranges within very limited bounds. The Austrian financial system continues to be very stable. FMA and OeNB will continue to monitor very closely and analyse any developments on the financial markets which arise from the events involving Lehman Brothers.
