Playing out or playing up?

Have you ever:

 been told off for making noise when you're just having fun outside?
 seen a 'No ball games' sign?
 had to stay inside quietly when you'd rather play out?

Playing out is a fun way of spending time with your friends. Throwing or kicking a ball and
running about can keep you healthy. So why can playing out sometimes get you into
trouble?

Sometimes people are just being killjoys. Other times, they could have a point. For
example, your parents might worry that when you play out you could be hurt, either by
traffic or a person. Or if you're noisy, you might disturb someone's peace and quiet after a
hard day.

Play out and stay out of trouble
You can play out safely and avoid getting told off by:

   watching out for traffic
 staying with your friends and being cautious of strangers
 not making too much noise, but thinking of people you might be disturbing.
