VISA DEBIT CARD SECURITY BREACH ALERT MARCH 4 2009 At Charter Oak Bank, protecting our customer’s financial information is a priority. There- fore, we are alerting our customers of a recent security breach that occurred at Heartland Payment Systems. It was recently announced this data breach occurred at their process- ing center in which they process debit and credit cards transactions for over 175,000 merchants. Please note, this breach did not occur within Charter Oak Bank’s computer system and no personal or account information was compromised. The compromised information con- sisted of debit/credit card numbers and expiration dates only. While we have been notified that some Charter Oak Bank debit card numbers might have been compromised, we have not seen fraudulent activity occur on these cards. If we are notified by VISA that your card number might have been compromised, we will com- municate this to you and order a new debit card for you. This will eliminate the risk of an unauthorized transaction from occurring on the compromised card number in the future. We asked that our customers regularly review their account activity and statements and report any unauthorized transaction to us immediately at 707-265-2000. Thank you for your assistance in safeguarding your account.
