The CVS offers a range of services to charities, voluntary organisations and community
groups in York to help them do their work more effectively. This includes information and
advice, training and financial and administrative services.

A clearing house for volunteers, giving information/advice on suitable volunteering
opportunities. The Centre supports volunteers and voluntary organisations, encouraging new
developments and good practice.

YORK COMMUNITY ACCOUNTING SCHEME (YCAS) Provides help & advice on all
aspects of book-keeping and charity accounting to voluntary groups in York, Ryedale,
Easingwold and Selby.

JESSIE'S FUND helps seriously ill and disabled to communicate through the creative use of
music and music therapy. The organisation works throughout the UK.

YORK WOMEN'S COUNSELLING SERVICE provide a counselling service for women in

WRVS ASSOCIATION was started in March 1973 to form a friendly link between past and
present members of the WRVS. The Association is a legal part of WRVS and has the added
commitment to maintain contact with, and give all possible help to WRVS members as they

SURVIVE provide support to survivors of childhood sexual abuse through a range of services
including a telephone support line, support groups, advocacy and 1-1 support, a library and
information resources on related subjects and a website with self help materials and useful

Independent Domestic Abuse Service provide advice, emotional support and information to
anyone experiencing or who have experienced domestic abuse and who are living in the
community. They enable people to live safely in their homes and challenge society's attitude
to violence against women and children in the home.

BON SOCIAL CLUB operates as part of Brunswick Organic Nursery, and is a social club run
by people with learning difficulties. They provide opportunities for people with learning
difficulties to get out in the evenings and weekends, and the group offer the support needed
to access a range of local amenities as well as providing a range of new opportunities for their

RSPB works to protect birds and the environment. Their conservation work encompasses
issues such as climate change, agricultural intensification, expansion of urban areas and
transport infrastructure, as well as the over-exploitation of the sea, which all pose major

SKILLS FOR CARE aims to modernise adult social care in England by ensuring that
professional qualifications and standards continually adapt to meet the needs of people who

INCLUSION HOUSING is a social enterprise established to provide good quality
accommodation and related housing management and maintenance services for vulnerable
people. The organisations philosophy is built around the key principles of choice, rights,
citizenship, independence and inclusion.

MAINSTAY is a group of mental health service users who work together with service
providers to improve services in the area. The group is also involved in planning, provision
and monitoring of mental health services and act as a voice to the service user movement.

Mencap provide learning and employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties.

also organises training and take-up campaigns, and produces several publications. Please
