Qualifications:


Professor (Integrated Marketing Communication)

A post-graduate Degree from a reputed business school, preferably a Doctorate in
Management and or Marketing. At least 10 years of Industry experience with
teaching experience at Post-graduate level. Must be able to give a new direction to
curriculum design in the broad area of Advertising and Public Relations based on
current and innovative practices of the market place.

Job Profile:

This is a relatively new area that combines an understanding of persuasive
communication, advertising branding and public relations. Should be able to
combine and avid understanding of the market dynamics including consumer
insights and use of various tools of communication.

The candidate is expected to teach short-term courses on integrated marketing for
industry and in-service government officers.


Associate Professor (Information Technology):

Master’s degree in the subject or related subject such as computer science.

Experience of at least ten years in a communication sector industry with an
understanding of necessary software and hardware configuration.

Job Profile:

The candidate must be able to evolve a new programme based on an understanding
of application of information technology to the media sector. Understanding of the
rapid changes in the Information Technology sector and corresponding changes in
the media sector is necessary.

Training the students at the post-graduate level is necessary. Ability to produce
content for instructional design to cater to a new generation of learners and users.


Associate Professor (Journalism & Mass Communication):

Ten years experience as Lecturer/ senior Lecturer/ Assistant Professor level. Ph.D
in the subject.

Work experience in media will be given due consideration. Good track record of
Publications and participation in National and International Seminars.
Job Profile:

The candidate should be able to teach basic course in communication including
theories and models.      To design and incorporate new developments in
communication in the teaching programme. Be in a position to design and execute
research projects independently/commissioned basis.


Associate Professor (Radio Journalism):

Master’s degree in the subject or related discipline. Minimum experience of at
least ten years as producer/engineering executive in Radio Broadcasting network.

Teaching experience at the post -graduate level or aptitude for teaching and
training will be given due consideration.


Associate Professor (Publications):

Good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work in
communication/mass communication/journalism from an Indian University, or an
equivalent degree from a foreign University.

Five years of experience in publications/teaching and/or research excluding the
period spent for obtaining the research degrees and should have made some mark
in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to
education innovation, design of new courses and curricula.

Desirable: Experience in a reputed publishing house/ newspaper/magazine.


Sr. Librarian (Non-teaching post):

Essential:

i)     Master’s degree in Library Science
ii)    Certificate in Computer Applications with working experience of
       computers.
iii)   Ten years experience in a responsible capacity in a reputed/library
       documentation center, preferable dealing in social sciences mass
       communication.
Desirable:

i)     Associate ship in Information Science from INSDOC/DFTC.

ii)    Master’s      Degree          in        Journalism/Communication/Social
       Science/Humanities

iii)   Published work in Library Science/Social Science/Mass Communication.


Assistant Editor (Reserved for SC) (Non-teaching post):

Master’s degree in Journalism/Communication/Social Science/Literature.

Three years experience of editing, production and publication of books and
journals in newspaper/publishing or advertising agency or an identical
organization of repute.

Desirable: Publication work and training in computerization.

Associate Professor            :     Rs. 12000-420-18300
Sr. Librarian                  :     Rs. 10000-325-15200
Assistant Editor               :     Rs. 8000-275-13500


Age: (as on 31.12.2008):

Normally below 55 years for Professor, 45 years for Associate Professor, 45 years
for Sr, Librarian and 40 years for Assistant Editor; relaxable upto 5 years in the
case of SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Ohter things being equal, preference shall be given to candidates belonging to
SC/ST and OBC for the posts 1-6.

If the Selection Committee is of the view that the professional experience and
work of the candidate as evident from his/her record of published work is of very
high standard, it may relax age, qualifications or experience.
If none of the applicants is considered suitable, the Selection Committee may also
consider suitable candidates from outside the list of applicants(applicable only
teaching posts at S.No. 1-5).

The Institute’s reserves the right not to fill-up any of the vacancies advertised if
the circumstances so warrant.

with a demand draft for Rs.200/- for General category and Rs.100/- for SC/ST and
OBC category drawn in favour of “Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New
Delhi” or by sending the demand draft by post together with a self addressed and
stamped (Rs10/-) envelope (27x13 cm.). Application form and full details can be

SC/ST/OBC candidates they should send an attested copy of the caste certificate
alongwith the request for application form.

Payment for travel: Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid one-
way AC-3 tier rail fare (or bus fare where there is no train connection) from place
of residence to Delhi by the shortest route.

Laste date: Application, complete in all respects, should reach the Assistant
Registrar by March 03, 2008

While the Institute will take every care and caution in sending communication, it
