Metallurgical Industries Steel Complex (SCL), a subsidiary of KSICL has proposed plans to revamp the existing Kozhikode plant in Kerala. SAIL has taken over 50% of shares from SCL and hence, the company is a JV between SAIL & government of Kerala. As part of the revamping programme, the unit envisages setting up of a 50,000 TPA rolling mill for production of TMT bars. As of May 2008, an MoU has been signed between SAIL and government of Kerala. Transworld Services is planning to set up a sponge iron plant in Bastar dist. of Chhattisgarh. The plant envisages a capacity of 200 TPD and entails an investment of Rs.185 million. Land has been acquired and the feasibility report & the detailed project report (DPR) have been prepared. Consultants & equipment suppliers are yet to be appointed. As of May 2008, clearances and allocation of coal mines are awaited. Power Generation Mukesh Gupta Group has announced plans to set up a 100 MW coal-based thermal power plant at Tadali in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared and the company is scouting for land. Negotiations are underway with potential consultants and suppliers. The project is scheduled for completion in 18 months from the date of implementation. Athena Chhattisgarh Power is planning to set up a 1,200 MW (2x600) coal based thermal power project at Dumarpali in Raigarh district. The project is to be implemented by Green Infrastructure and Athena Group. Energy Infratech, Hyderabad is the project consultant. As of May 2008, land acquisition is under progress and detailed project report is yet to be prepared. EPC contractors are yet to be finalized. The first unit is expected to be completed in 36 months from the date of award of contract and the second unit in 4 months thereafter. Himachal Hydel Projects is planning to set up a 4.5 MW Kurhed hydel project in Chamba district of HP. The canal based project is located near river Kurhed Nallah, a tributary of river Ravi. The project entails an estimated cost of Rs.300 million. Indo Canadian Consultancy Services, Noida is the technical consultant. Boving Fouress, Bengalooru has been appointed as the turnkey contractor. As of May 2008, detailed project report has been prepared and necessary clearances were obtained. Civil works are likely to commence shortly and the project is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2010. LANCO Infratech has announced plans to set up 2 coal based thermal power plants in UP. The project details are given below: ● Prayagraj Power Project envisages a capacity of 1,980 MW (3x660) in Allahabad district. ● Sangam Power Project envisages a capacity of 1,320 MW (2x660) in Allahabad district. The generated power of 90% will be sold to UP government and the rest through merchant power suppliers. The projects include all the required infrastructure linkages like road, water, fuel and rail. Both the projects entails an estimated cost of Rs.140,000 million. As of May 2008, the proposals are in the preliminary stage. Engineering Commercial Engineers & Body Builders Co (CEBBCO) is setting up a manufacturing unit for refrigerated sandwich panel vans in Jabalpur district of MP. The unit is to be implemented in a JV with Lamberet Constructions Isothermes, France in 2 phases. The new sandwich panels will be made from layers of gel, coat, resin and fibre-glass. Phase I programme envisages a capacity of 800 units/yr and phase II programme with a capacity of 400 units/yr. Lamberet Constructions Isothermes, France along with an in-house team is rendering project & technical consultancy. Major equipment is being supplied by the JV partner. As of May 2008, erection of machinery is under progress. Phase I programme is slated for completion by August 2008 and phase II by September 2009. Tata Ryerson is setting up a plate burning & fabricating plant at Tada in Nellore district of AP. The company is to manufacture components for use in earth moving equipment industry. The project entails an estimated investment of Rs.450 million. An in-house team rendering project & technical consultancy. Messer, China is the major equipment supplier. Sijcon Architects & Engineering Consultants, Ahmedabad is the civil & electrical consultant. As of May 2008, civil works are under progress. The unit is scheduled for completion by September 2008. ECI Infra Tower Co is setting up a manufacturing facility for galvanized steel structural towers at Kaweli in Medak district of AP. The facility envisages a capacity of 5,000 TPA entails an approx. investment of Rs.250 million. Project & technical consultancy is being rendered an in-house team. Ficep SPA, Italy is the major equipment supplier. As of April 2008, civil works are under progress. The unit is slated for completion by September 2008. Metallurgical Industries Shree Shyam Sponge & Power is expanding its sponge iron plant at Bacchera in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. The expansion is to double its capacity from 100 TPD to 200 TPD. Industrial Technical Consultant, Raipur is the project & technical consultant for the project. BeeKay Engineering Corp, Bhilai is the major equipment supplier. As of April 2008, civil works are in progress. The expansion is slated for completion by July 2008. Khosla Foundry is setting up a 3,000 TPM foundry unit catering to automobile tractors at Aurangabad in Faridabad district of Haryana. The unit entails an investment of Rs.400 million. An in-house team is rendering project & technical consultancy. Vardhman Precision Profiles & Tubes, New Delhi is the civil contractor. DISA India, Bengalooru is the major equipment supplier. Raw materials are to be procured from Tata Metaliks, Kolkata and local vendors in Agra. As of May 2008, civil works are under progress. The unit is expected to be completed by third quarter of 2008. Mukesh Gupta Group is setting up a 200 TPD (2x100) sponge iron plant in Tadali in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. The project includes setting up of a 25 MW dual-fuel (coal & WHR) based captive power plant (CPP) in phase I and a capacity addition of 6 MW CPP & a steel melting shop in phase II. Phase I programme entails an estimated investment of Rs.1,000 million. An in-house team is rendering project & technical consultancy and external consultants may be appointed based on the requirements. Indure, New Delhi has been awarded the turnkey contract for the CPP. As of April 2008, civil works are under progress. Phase I programme is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2009 and the phase II by the end of 2009. Power Generation Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board is setting up an additional coal based thermal units in 2 locations. The project details are given below: ● Setting up of a 1x500 MW at Korba West thermal power project. ● Setting up of a 2x500 MW at Marwa thermal power project in Janjgir-Champa district. BHEL has been awarded the supply and installation of main plant contract package at a cumulative cost of Rs.33,680 million. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection & commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boilers, associated auxiliaries, piping & electrical besides state of the art controls & instrumentations. Bhoruka Power Corp is setting up a 6 MW (4x1.5) Dadupur hydel power project in Yamunanagar district of Haryana. The project entails an investment of Rs.420 million. P&R Consultants & Developers, Chandigarh is the civil contractor and Boving Fouress, Bengalooru is the electro & mechanical contractor. As of May 2008, civil works have been initiated. The project is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2009. R.M. Mohite Textiles is setting up a 10 MW dam based hydel power project in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. The dam based power plant is located on River Radhanagari. An investment of Rs.340 million is entailed. The company’s in-house team is rendering the technical consultancy services. As of May 2008, civil works are nearing completion and the project is scheduled for completion by July 2008. Swasti Power Engineering is setting up a 22.5 MW (3x7.5) Bhilangana hydel power project at Ghansali in Tehri district of Uttarkhand. The project is a run-of-the river scheme on the river Bhilangana, a tributary of river Ganga. Consulting Engineering Services, Delhi is the technical consultant and IVRCL, Hyderabad is the turnkey contractor. The first unit with a capacity of 7.5 MW is slated for completion by June 2008 and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the last quarter of 2008. Roads & Highways Meenaskhi Infrastructures is implementing a road construction project on BOT basis in MP. The project comprises of design, construction, development, finance, operation and maintenance between Lakhnadon and Seoni from KM-II scheme. The scope of the work involves widening of the existing 2 lane to 4 lane road section with divided carriageway facility, including strengthening of the existing road. The project entails an estimated cost of Rs.2,400 million with a concession period of 25 years. As of April 2008, the construction work is in progress and is scheduled for completion by September 2009. Engineering Caparo India has recently commissioned a state of the art engineering complex at Sriperumbudur near Chennai in TN. The complex is to spread over 120 acres and comprising of a stamping unit, research & development centre, tool room, an aluminium foundry and the forging unit. An investment of Rs.10,500 million is entailed. The unit will house manufacturing facilities for tubular parts, automotive braking systems, fasteners, composite materials and testing. Plans are also on the anvil to set up a new unit at Nilakottai in TN catering to TAFE. Another proposal of modernization & expansion at its Dewas facility in MP with an estimated cost of Rs.1,100 million and its capacity will be doubled.
