FACTS ABOUT THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA
• Great Pyramid was produced for Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops to the Greeks) around 2,600 B.C. E.
• 40 storey building on a base of 13 acres using approximately 2,300,000 blocks of limestone, smallest
    is 3 tons
• blocks brought from quarries more than 200 miles away
• if pulverised, the Great Pyramid would create a 16-foot -wide 1-foot -deep road over 3000 miles long
• estimated time for an Indiana limestone quarry to produce 2 million, 3-ton blocks is 27 years
• cathedrals of Milan, Florence, Westminster Abbey, and St. Peter's in Rome would fit inside it
• latitude and longitude lines of its location pass through more land mass than at any other co-ordinates
• square base aligned perfectly with the four cardinal compass points of north, south, east and west
• design provides practical way of “squaring the circle”
• defines relationship between the diameter and the circumference of a circle: c = π X diameter
• four-sided exterior covers 22 acres and was covered with white Tura limestone each slab weighing 15
    tons
• some casing stones are still in place with only a fiftieth of an inch gap between (business card width)
• no steel, iron, or bronze tools available; only copper and stone implements to cut the stones
• hidden northern entrance to the Great Pyramid only discovered during the Middle Ages
• entrance displaced from dead centre of the north face by 24 feet (286.1022 pyramid inches) to the east
• entrance descended 26 degrees for approximately 60 feet and the goes up 129 feet at 26 degrees to
    King's Chamber
• ascending passage still blocked by 3, tight-fitting 5 ton granite blocks, put in place during construction
• one then enter the Grand Gallery (28 feet high 153 feet long) which leads to King's Chamber
• King's Chamber lined with rose-coloured granite, ceiling made up of 9 65-ton blocks
• to move a 65-ton block today would require a crane that itself would be transported on 15 semi trailers
• King's Chamber 34 feet 4 inches from east to west and 17 feet 2 inches from north to south
• sarcophagus inside the chamber is larger than the ascending passage and its quarry source is unknown
• five stacked chambers are located above the King's Chamber, presumably to relieve weight pressure
• each side is 365.242 cubits (25 inches) in length which equals the number of days in a solar year
    (equinox to equinox)
