Article Summaries
You will be required to prepare business-related reading. Your assignments will be to read a
current article (within the last year) and to prepare a typewritten summary of it. Please keep in mind that the
purpose of a summary is to present the information in the article to another while saving them the time of reading
it themselves. Therefore, the article should be long enough to warrant a summary!

There are approximately 5 summaries due this semester. You can choose from any topics below, BUT each
summary must be on a different topic each time. This will expose you to all areas of business! The topics for
your summaries should be as follows:
        1)     Trends in the Workplace
        2)     Business and Economics
        3)     Career Research
        4)     Personality Traits
        5)     On the Job Environment

Paragraph 1
Give the name of the magazine, date of publication, author and name of article. Briefly introduce what the article
was about.

Paragraph 2
Using a bulleted format. Bullet at least 5 to 10 of the major points made in the article.

Paragraph 3 (& possibly 4)
Conclude by giving your reaction to the article: was the information interesting, informative, valuable? Do you
think that others would benefit from reading it? Would you recommend this article to others? Who do you think
would best benefit from reading it? How did the article relate to class or how will it be helpful to you in this
course?

These are valuable assignments. Sometimes you will be asked to share them with the class. You are in control
of these assignments so do them well and submit them on time and these can be grades to boost your average!

There should be no reason to ever miss one of these assignments or to submit one late! Remember, if it is
submitted/presented late, you will lose 10 points per day.
