BLACK HISTORY MONTH BRINGS NEW COLLABORATIONS FOR AREA:
ATLANTA’S RESOURCE FOR ENTERTAINMENT & ARTS
ATLANTA, GA – This February, AREA (Atlanta’s Resource for Entertainment & Arts) is celebrating Black
History Month with new collaborations from notable arts and entertainment organizations. Only open since
August 2009 and recently voted Best Of Atlanta award for Arts & Entertainment from the Atlanta Tribune
Magazine, AREA is quickly becoming a hub for the best and brightest talent in the southeast region.
“There are so many great things happening here at AREA that I can hardly wrap my mind around the wealth of
opportunities and wonderful strategic partnerships that we are establishing at this time. It’s quite amazing that we
just opened our doors for business a few months ago, and industry executives, established artists, organizations
and marquis companies are taking notice of our exclusive services, and just the immediate feeling of freedom of
expressing your individual art form when you enter AREA,” comments Jai McClendon Jones, Senior Artistic
Director of AREA.
New partners include True Colors Theatre, founded by nationally-recognized director, Kenny Leon to create a
moveable feast of theatre, grounded in the rich canon of African-American classics; FriendScents/The FGS’s, a
movement to redefine beauty for girls through product lines that highlight true beauty and genuine friendship, and
the hottest new girl group bursting into the “tween” scene. Ques One Talent has also come on board with AREA,
providing a wide-range of services in the fashion and entertainment industries with a stellar contention of models,
dancers, and stylists. In addition to outside collaborations, AREA is currently building a roster of new artists and
talent through its AREA 360 artist development program, which provides new talent with all necessary
components including mentoring, styling, imaging, branding and public relations.
“We want to make our mark in history by ensuring that we are positioned to provide our clients with everything
that is important to their growth and evolution in the arts. We are always open to collaborations that will enhance
and broaden our reach into cultivating talented individuals on their journey,” states Jones.
Touted as the new epicenter for culminating phenomenal talent, AREA opened its doors in August 2009 to
provide a multi-disciplinary performing arts complex where dance, music and drama collide. Designed
specifically for the arts & entertainment enthusiast, AREA is dedicated to initiating a modern-day arts renaissance
starting in the Atlanta area, and progressing to a national brand. With each dance step, musical orchestration, and
complex emotions of a character, its aim is to provide a place for artists of all ages to cultivate their gifts and
define their talents to the highest professional caliber. AREA further encourages collaborative initiatives with arts
programs locally and nationally.
