									BIG News from the Little Big House

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been enjoying a very busy month.
A class at Correlieu High School has taken on Teen Mentoring as a project. Ms Knauf’s
Psychology class are enjoying participating in the mentoring. Twenty high school
students have been matched with elementary students at Ecole Baker. The young people
look forward to seeing their teen mentors every Tuesday morning. The Community In-
School Mentor program will hold their end of year celebration on June 2 nd . Sue Ellen
Miller, SD#28 Superintendent, will be in attendance.

It is always exciting to make new matches. This month, two Little Brothers and three
Little Sisters are happy to have a new friend in their lives. One match enjoyed playing
Frisbee out at Ten Mile Lake. Another match met the Rocky Mountaineer train and Little
Brother Sage was thrilled to be able to go on board the train. However, there are still
twenty five children waiting to be matched.

Preparations are in place to have our 15 th Annual Tree Plant on Saturday May 30 th.
Thank you to Ryan Weltz and Tolko for giving us this opportunity again. Some of our
Littles have had so much practice that they are hoping to attain a summer job tree
planting.

Tim Horton’s Camp Day is Wednesday, June 3 rd. Two Little Brothers and two Little
Sisters have been selected to go to the Kananaskis Tim Horton’s Camp this summer. We
hope that the community will drop by for coffee and support Camp Day.

The Rod Williamson Memorial Poker Ride will be held on Sunday June 7th. This is in
partnership with Triple J Ranch. Lunch will be provided by Mr. Mikes. First prize will
be a beautiful saddle donated by North Cariboo Growers Co-op. You must reserve by
calling David at 998-4746.

Go Girls (Life Skills) sessions have been held in partnership with North Cariboo Family
Program Society. Josie Whitehead will be having a celebration with the participants next
week. Thank you to Royal Bank Foundation for sponsoring this program.

We are grateful to Chris Kempling for his very generous financial donation to us. Chris
was involved in starting the organization here in Quesnel. He was a Board member and
Big Brother for many years. He was very dedicated and committed to his Little Brothers
and they greatly benefited from his friendship.

Third Annual Golf Tournament will be held at Richbar Golf and Gardens on Saturday,
August 15th. The prize for most pledges collected will be two regular flight West Jet
tickets to any of their North American destinations.
