Their campaign is starting with a high energy bang - the Money XLive financial education event.
This will be followed by a financial educator training program, financial literacy curriculum and
a multi-media learning center in an effort to empower their fellow student with 'real world'
money skills.
(PRWEB) February 26, 2010 -- Seattle WA Three high school students are leading a grassroots financial literacy
movement at Auburn Mountainview High School. In an effort to combat the financial struggles that many
students face, they have raised enough funds to provide their school a financial educator training program,
financial literacy curriculum and a high energy financial education event that features celebrities, live bands and
entertainers.

Natalie Hostetter, Alexi Morton and Lauren Kmiechick, students at Auburn Mountainview High School, chose to
bring the National Youth Financial Educators Council’s, Money XLive event, to kick off their financial literacy
campaign. Money XLive is designed to educate, motivate and move students to take positive action. This
high-energy event brings together celebrities, sport stars, live bands, a DJ and financial education experts together
in a concert style environment.

Natalie Hostetter proclaimed, “After reviewing the National Youth Financial Educator programs, I knew this
would be something that would not only be a lot of fun but would also help my classmates when they graduate.”

The Money XLive financial education event is taking place March 12th and with over 1,200 attendees, this event
is sure to make a big impact in the community. This is the first live event of the national Stand Up for Financial
Literacy campaign which is designed to raise awareness about the problem of financial illiteracy while educating
youth from across the country on practical financial matters.

To educate parents on how they can talk to their kids about money, there will be a community financial education
event taking place on March 10th and financial literacy expert, Vince Shorb, will inform parents how they can
teach kids about money. Also speaking is college planning and networking expert Chad Penry. He will share
with families the best way to pay for college and the importance of leveraging college to build skills and a
network of trusted friends.

The March 10th event is at Auburn Mountianview High School from 6:00 to 7:30 and is free to the community.
All guests will receive a free video course called Money Smart Parent and pre-registration is required by visiting
the National Youth Financial Educators Council.

Celebrities that will be appearing live include: Malcolm McCassy (star of MTV Made), Randy Wayne (star of To
Save a Life), Joe Gingerella (Top 100 most influential people in the music industry) and a NFL Pro Bowl
selection to be announced later next week. It also will feature live performances by J Minus, Atomic Outlaws,

Shyan Selah and Cold December. Sponsors include State Farm Insurance, Verity Credit Union, The Show Media,
Muckleshoot Indian Tribe and Ethika.

The Money XLive financial education event is only the start of the financial literacy programs at Auburn
Mountianview High School. The National Youth Financial Educators Council will be conducting teacher training
and providing financial literacy curriculum. “Our goal is to create a holistic program that will continue to
empower students in many ways for years to come. Combining parent, teacher and student financial education
training plus providing access to our MoneySmarts Course Virtual Classroom will ensure students retain
important financial literacy skills,” states Vince Shorb, founder of the National Youth Financial Educators
Council.

Lauren Kmiechick says “Besides the Money XLive event we wanted to create a sustainable financial education
program. We hired the National Youth Financial Educators Council to deliver entertaining financial literacy
curriculum that is aligned with national standards.”

The impact from this event will reach youth from across the country and has helped spawn the National Youth
Financial Educators Council’s new Money XLive Multi-Media workshop which will empower students from
across the country with the ability to deliver financial education events in their school. The Stand Up for
Financial Literacy campaign will extend the reach of the Money XLive Multi-Media event by collaborating with
business professional, coaches, educators, financial advisors and community leaders to bring the Money XLive
Multi-Media financial education workshop to communities across the country.
