                                         Tuesday 25 September 2007
                              Queen Elizabeth Postgraduate Centre, Birmingham

                                        EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK
Invitations for the event were sent to all breast screening radiographers, assistant practitoners and
medical physicists working within the West Midlands region. 109 delegates attended the event, 81
of which were either superintendent radiographers, radiographers, advanced practitioners or
assistant practitioners. 10 representatives from medical physic departments attended and there
were 18 other delegates who attended, which included sponsors.

At the end of the event, delegates were invited to complete an evaluation form to provide valuable
feedback which would assist in the planning of future events. 58 evaluation forms were completed
and returned. Overall feedback from the study day has been extremely positive with the majority of
delegates agreeing that it was an enjoyable and interesting event.

Delegates were asked for their opinion with regards to the following aspects of the conference:

 overall educational value of the conference
 the catering
 the delegate packs
 the facilities
 the lecture theatre
 the location of the venue

Overall all 18 speakers received either good or excellent feedback. The programme was split into
five topic areas these were: new technologies, emerging data and guidelines, local audit, role
extension in mammography and advances in the treatment of breast cancer.

Two speakers came from outside the West Midlands region. These were Professor Kenneth C
Young, Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, who did a presentation on the market overview of
CR (computed radiography) and DR (digital radiography) and Dr Preminda Kessar, Princess Royal
Hospital, Orpington who did a presentation on the MARIBS (magnetic resonance imaging for
breast screening) study of screening women at high risk of familial breast cancer.

The QE Postgraduate Centre has been rated by delegates as a good venue, however if you have
any other suggestions for alternative venues please do let Emma Bridges
(emma.bridges@wmciu.nhs.uk) at the QA reference centre know.

The QA reference centre values additional comments received from delegates:

o the number of speakers could have been reduced to enable more time for questions and
discussions, some of the speakers should have been asked to attend a future event
o speakers should be encouraged to use the portable microphone, as some speakers were
         very quiet
o more meat meal vouchers should be available
o all speaker presentations should be included in the packs to enable less note taking and
allowing for fuller attention to the speakers (comment: the QA reference centre includes a
presentation in the delegate packs only if a speaker gives us permission to do so)
o delegates should have a choice of menu prior to the event, thanks for the opportunity to
         attend
o the noise from external building works was a distraction
o paper to be provided in delegate packs for note taking
o nice to have a day with relevant topics
o the best quality assurance day so far
    o all questions were answered.
o all topics were extremely good and interesting
    o excellent study day
o lots of information hard to take it all in, especially in session two
o well run day, well done
o the content was too varied, less speakers and more detail would have been preferred

Some topics that delegates would be interested for inclusion in future events are outlined below:

    o ultrasound breast (radiographer course)
    o more health promotion
o presentation of clinical cases and their outcome – more clinical based lectures
o pathology – seeing the difference at multi-disciplinary team
    o pathology of diseases
    o oncoplastic techniques
    o oncology management
    o chemotherapy advances
o herceptin – latest data from trials
o patient experience – through symptomatic journey in breast screening
o role of the consultant radiographer
