'ROOM 13' ESSAY PLAN Introduction: Title, author, setting (how do you know this?), brief outline of the plot and a short personal opinion on the play. Paragraph one: Write about the character of Fliss. What is she like? What role did she play? What made her act the way she did? How did she change and develop? What were her relationships with others like and how did they change or develop as the play progressed? What did you think of Fliss? Paragraph two: Write about the character of Sally. Follow the same outline as for Fliss. Paragraph three: Pick one other character from the play and write about them. Follow the same outline as for Fliss. Paragraph four: Pick an incident that you feel is important to the development of the story. What happens? Who is involved? Why is this incident/scene important to the story as a whole? Paragraph five: Write about a section of the play you enjoyed. Briefly explain what happened. What did it add to the play? Why did you enjoy it? Paragraph six: Write about a section of the play you didn't enjoy. Briefly explain what happened. Who was involved? Why didn't you enjoy it? Paragraph seven: Write about the themes in the play. What were they? What did we learn from them? Did the characters change in any way because of the themes? Paragraph eight: How does Swindells build suspense and tension in the play? Think about how you feel at different points of the play and how your expectations change as the play develops. Finish off with a personal opinion on the play as a whole. REMEMBER TO TAKE CARE WITH YOUR SENTENCES, PUCTUATION AND SPELLING. TRY TO USE QUOTATIONS FROM THE PLAY TO ILLUSTRATE THE POINTS YOU MAKE.
