Goan Politics.......
I believe politics in Goa is still in its nascent state compared to rest of the country. At present it is passing through a lane flaked by high speed super sonic national politics and slow placed Goan mindset. In the rest of the country the politics is quite well eshtablished and has experience of more then a century! Politics in Goa was actually non existance in pre liberation era. There was no libral election policies, nor free and fair elections (I doubt whether there were elections!). So when Goa got liberated in late 1961, the whole to be politicians were suddenly exposed to a whole new world of fast paced experienced politics of India. The first elections and then the issue of meger with Maharashtra greatly influenced the politics of Goa. Though language politics influenced the early politics of Goa and development in last few years, religion has played a great influencing role in Goa, most specifically the Church. The role of the church in Goa and Goan politics can be well compared with thier counterparts in the US and europe. The minority tag of does help the church but more importantly the moral support and faith of non-catholic(original Goans) to the church is quite high. In short goan politics is more complicated then rest of the country even more dirtier den the politics of UP in terms of ethics! One should definetly look to do a docterate in Goan politics!
