LOST CHILD POLICY
Toddler Room
Every effort is made to ensure the safety of your child whilst using the Crèche.
This policy sets out our procedures for maintaining safety and dealing with the
unlikely event of a child going missing.
All parents must ensure that they write, on the whiteboards, their daily
telephone number where they can be reached.
All staff must sign all visitors in and out of the Crèche in the visitors book
provided at the entrance to the toddler room.
All staff must ensure that the gate to any outside area is bolted when children
are playing outside.
Parents mark children in and out on the appropriate forms at entrances to
rooms.
Staff mark registers – mornings and afternoons.
In the event of a member of staff fearing that a child has gone missing:
A member of staff will tell the other staff members and children that it is time for
“Special Activity”.
All children to be taken to drinks and staff to sit with them to do a singing session.
The Childcare Manager or Senior Officer will count and name check all the children
present against the register.
Crèche staff will check the whole inside of the Crèche.
Crèche staff will then check the doors and the outside and surrounding area.
In the event of a child being lost the Childcare Manager, Senior Officer or
Team Leader will:
o contact the parents and ask them to bring along a recent photograph of their child
if the Crèche does not have one.
o contact campus Security on 3333 who will then contact the Police.
