					                                    Open Ended Contract
                              Features of Open Ended Contract

   This contract should be used for employees who have no planned end date.

   In the majority of cases these employees will be paid a monthly salary

                                             Process

The following steps need to be taken in the following order to recruit someone on an open
ended contract:

Grading
 The role must be formally graded or matched to an Academic Grade/Profile http://www.hr-
   services.stir.ac.uk/forms/grading.php or an existing role which has been graded

Proposal Form
 Once the grading has been confirmed a “Proposal for a New or Replacement Post” should
   be completed (see forms below)

              If the post is core funded the proposal form should be sent directly from the
               department to finance for appropriate authorisation. Finance will then send the
               proposal form onto HR.

              If the post is externally funded the proposal should be authorised by the
               department and sent to HR.

Advertising
 Once the proposal form is received then an HR Adviser will contact the Departmental
  Administrator to request the Advert and Further Particulars templates to be forwarded to
  hradmin@stir.ac.uk. All open ended roles must be advertised for a minimum of two weeks.
