Main slots in the blended learning template
For every teaching unit within your course,
ie every course meeting, every week, every fortnight…. whatever your units are –

Note: “Blended” can mean that you mix face to face teaching with e-learning either as part of any of the 3 elements, or that 1 or 2 of the 3 elements uses e-learning.
Presentation Delivering learning content
In the conventional blended model, your content is delivered live in class. For blended learning, your options are: [select one]
1. You deliver all your content live in class.
Select 1 2. You only deliver some of your content live in class. In addition, you deliver some of your content by other means. Select 2
3. You deliver all your content by other means . Select 3
Presentation
Select 1 You slot in your normal teaching as you would in a traditional delivery of your course. Select 2 You slot in only some of your normal teaching. For the remainder you select one of the following: Asynchronous • Text on paper • Text on a web page (e.g. in a VLE) • Text sent by email • Text by sms to mobile devices • Audio – cassette or CD or DVD or webcast/audiocast • Video – cassette or CD or DVD or webcast/videocast Synchronous – any choice or mixture of • CHAT – instant messaging, • Whiteboard • Audio conferencing • Video conferencing Select 3 You use one of the alternatives instead of normal teaching.

In the conventional blended model, performance may be the main summative assessment stage of the process, or else it may prepare for assessment by promoting learner creativity as a consolidation stage with formative assessment.
