  ANATOMICAL SOCIETY RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS

The Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland offers a limited number of Research
Studentships to be held in departments of anatomical sciences in the United Kingdom and
Ireland. Applications are currently being invited from prospective supervisors for
Studentships to commence in October 2008. Applicants must be Members of the Society
who have held membership since at least the last Annual General Meeting of the
Society. All applicants must be in good standing with their membership fees.

The value and conditions of the Studentships are broadly commensurate with Medical
Research Council studentships (see Information and Conditions 2007-2008). The
attention of intending applicants is drawn to the additional obligations for Anatomical
Society Research Students to present a paper at a Society meeting in each year of the
award, and to offer a full paper to the Journal of Anatomy. The Studentship scheme is
made possible only by the Society's income from the Journal, and the future of the scheme
will depend on a continuing stream of high quality submitted manuscripts to maintain and
enhance the Journal's international profile.

Application forms and conditions can be obtained by emailing the office of the Secretary of
the Society. Emails should be directed to Ms Lisa Costick, l.m.costick@bsms.ac.uk

Closing date for applications :12th October 2007. All applicants must send 12 paper copies
to:

Professor Diana Lawrence-Watt
ASGBI Secretary
Medical School Teaching Building
Brighton and Sussex Medical School
University of Sussex Campus
Falmer
Brighton
East Sussex BN1 9PX

Applications will be peer-reviewed and all applicants will be informed of the outcome at the
beginning of January, following the December meeting of the Council of the Society.
