Information Pack

Thank you for your interest in Roots – a mixed media exhibition to be held at
Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery in September and October 2008.

The following should give you all the information you need to take part in the
exhibition.

About Us

Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery is one of the most visited Museums in
Kent. The purpose built art gallery hosts six exhibitions a year.

About the exhibition

Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery are inviting artists of all ages and abilities to
create a new piece of work for this special exhibition.

The theme of the exhibition is Roots and we are hoping to see the theme interpreted
as widely as possible. Where are your roots? What keeps you rooted? It could be a
person, a place or an object. Something from your past or looking toward your
future. We are hoping to see work in a range of sizes, styles and media. Painting,
collage, print, textile or photography - originality and creativity are as important as
technical ability.

In addition to your artwork we would like you to submit a short written piece (no more
than 50 words) about your subject. Whatever your inspiration or how you choose to
interpret the theme, we want to know.
About the work

 Due to space restrictions we won’t be able to show all of the work submitted.
 All work should be submitted framed in a frame suitable for mirror plating.
 Framed work should not exceed 60cm x 85cm or A1 size (either portrait or
       landscape)
 Only one framed work per person will be shown. Anyone who wishes to
submit multiple images should ensure that they are presented in one frame
and that that frame does not exceed the maximum size.
 We may be able to show a small number of 3 dimensional pieces such as
sculpture, ceramics or glass. If you are interested, please contact the
museum to discuss size and display requirements.

Our exhibitions panel will meet in August to decide which works will be shown in the
final exhibition. Your written statement, subject and style will all be important for the
Panel in deciding which works will be displayed. If you are not selected we will
contact you by the end of August 2008.
