MKC Beauty Academy is a private institution whose primary objective is to
provide beginner and advanced training in beauty make-up artistry for fashion,
film, and television. We offer vocational training for individuals seeking
employment as beauty make-up artists as well as for working professionals
interested in continuing an education specializing in beauty make-up.

Since the Advanced Course is an advanced course, students are required to
have the permission of the instructor and to either have taken the Introduction to
Makeup Course, provide a certificate of completion in basic beauty from a
respected make-up school, or have equivalent experience.

In the highly competitive field of beauty make-up, professional make-up artists
must be more skilled than ever and must have a strong work ethic and desire to
succeed. MKC Beauty Academy offers complete programs for students who wish
to enhance their techniques and style and to develop the professionalism
required in their individual career paths.

Attendance Policy

Students are expected to act in a responsible and professional manner while on
the MKC Beauty Academy campus. This includes being on time and prepared for
the scheduled curriculum. Classes begin at 9 A.M. and continue until 6 P.M.,
Monday through Friday.

The instructor will determine whether tardiness is excused or recorded in the
student’s file.

Two tardies equal one unexcused absence.

An absence may only be excused for one of the following reasons: a death in the
family, the birth of an immediate family member, or illness accompanied by a
doctor's note.

One unexcused absence in one course will result in a warning from the
instructor. Two unexcused absences in one course will result in a meeting with
the School Director. Three unexcused absences in one course will result in
suspension from the course. Student will be allowed to re-enter the next
scheduled course if space is available and with School Director permission.

A student who must take a leave of absence (LOA) may do so, provided that the
student has first received approval from the School Director. LOA applications
are available at the school's administration office. Students who are granted a
leave of absence must return to the school within 180 days in order to complete
the enrolled program.

Students are not given a grade. If the student complies with school and
attendance policies and completes all assignments, the student will receive a
                            certificate of completion.

Entrance Requirements and Enrollment Procedures

In order to begin the enrollment process, please complete an application and
submit it along with your $150 deposit(s), which includes a non-refundable $75
registration fee and proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D. The application is
contained in our school catalog. Since class size is limited, we recommend that
the student complete the enrollment process as soon as possible.

To complete the enrollment process, the student must return all signed
enrollment agreements and supporting documents. Class availability is based on
a first-come, first-served consideration.
All foreign and domestic students must be at least 18 years of age and have
proof of a high school diploma or G.E.D. If the student cannot provide this
documentation, he/she will be required to take an advanced skills test on or prior
to the start date.

We highly recommend that the student speak with the admissions office prior to
registration so that he/she can be certain that his/her educational desires meet
his/her occupational goals.

MKC Beauty Academy does not provide English-as-a-second language.
However, Japanese- and Italian-speaking students will benefit from Ms. Kimura's
                               trilingual status.

Note: On class days, the student should bring his/her own make-up kit, a
notebook, and something to write with.

Career Development

Marketing, networking, and life plan lessons make up an integral part of the MKC
Beauty Academy curriculum. The lessons are included at no extra charge in
every MKC Beauty Academy full course. They include sections on portfolios,
resumes, self-marketing, career plans, networking, and professionalism. When
available, guest speakers share their ideas and experiences and answer
questions from the students. In addition to attending lectures and
demonstrations, a student will participate in career exercises and open
discussions to exchange ideas and to network. Partnered with The Portfolio
Network, MKC Beauty Academy also provides each graduate student a 6-month
subscription to an online portfolio.
Course completion is required, and MKC Beauty Academy rules and polices will
be enforced. Non-compliance with the rules will result in the expulsion of the
student from the program.
MKC Beauty Academy offers job placement assistance when possible but does
not guarantee placement.

All post-graduate career services, including certificate preparation, portfolio
preparation, resume writing, and job placement assistance are available to
graduates. However, these services are only offered to graduates who have
successfully completed the selected course or program.

This program is new. We are not able to tell you how many students graduate,
how many students find jobs, or how much money you can earn after finishing
this course.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

A student of MKC Beauty Academy has the right to a full refund of all charges,
less the $75.00 registration fee, if the student cancels his/her enrollment
agreement prior to or on the first day (for Introduction to Makeup Course) or
second day (for Advanced Course) of instruction. The amount retained for the
registration fee may not exceed seventy-five dollars ($75.00).

If a student has completed 60% or less of the course instruction, the student may
withdraw from any course after the first day (for Introduction to Makeup Course)
or second day (for Advanced Course) of instruction and receive a pro rated
refund for the unused tuition and any other refundable charges.
For example, if a student completes only 40 hours of a 120-hour course and paid
$300.00 tuition, the student would receive a refund of $200.00.
$300.00 / 120 = 2.5 x 40 = $100.00
Refund due is $200.00 from the total tuition of $300.

The Student Tuition Recovery Fund (STRF) was established by the Legislature
to protect any California resident who attends a private postsecondary institution
from losing money if he/she prepaid tuition and suffered a financial loss as a
result of the school’s closing, failure to live up to its enrollment agreement, or
refusal to pay a court judgment.

           of Hollywood

To be eligible for STRF, you must be a “California resident” and reside in
California at the time the enrollment agreement is signed or when you receive
lessons at a California mailing address from an approved institution offering
correspondence instruction. A student who is temporarily residing in California
for the sole purpose of pursuing an education, specifically one who holds a
student visa, is not considered a “California resident.”
To qualify for STRF reimbursement you must file a STRF application within one
year of receiving notice from the Bureau that the school is closed. If you do not
receive notice from the Bureau, you have four years from the date of closure to
file a STRF application. If a judgment is obtained, you must file a STRF
application within two years of the final judgment.
It is important that you keep copies of the enrollment agreement, financial aid
papers, receipts, and any other information that documents the monies paid to
the school. Questions regarding the STRF may be directed to the Bureau for
Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education: 400 R Street, Suite 5000,
Sacramento, CA 95814-6200, (916)445-3427.
