YMCA Youth Weight Training/Agility 6-week program is looking for student volunteers. This program is for youth 5th grade
and older (10-13 years old). The class includes instruction on the proper use of strength training equipment and weight room etiquette.
Classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with each class limited to 10 participants. Winter session begins Tuesday January 19 th, through

The Washington Literacy Project is in desperate need of additional tutors and childcare workers. This program is held on Thursday
nights from 5:30-7:00 at Washington Elementary School on South Broad street. The focus is on teaching English to Hispanic parents of
children from Washington Elementary School. You do NOT need to know Spanish to work in this program. All materials and training are
provided and it is a very rewarding experience as the parents are very grateful and responsive.
We also need more volunteers to help care for their children during this time. The children range from 6 months to 12 years. We try and
have some kind of project for them to work on, we take them either outside or to the gym, and we have a snack time. We usually try and
divide them up by age groups, depending on how many children are present.
If any student organization or community group might need a project or a service-learning activity, please let them know. If you’re at all
interested in either of these volunteer opportunities, please let me know and/or just show up!
