					IMPROVED CAR PARKING PLEASES PATIENTS

The new arrangements that have been put into place to improve parking at The Manor
Hospital, Walsall, have been given the thumbs up by patients and visitors. Many have
commented how much easier it is to find a space on the Pleck Road car park under the
new arrangements. One regular visitor to the Manor said that she had always found
parking her car really difficult and had allowed an extra hour before her appointment
to do so. At her last visit, she was pleased and surprised to discover how much it has
changed for the better.

Julian Rainsford, Director of Estates and Facilities at the Manor said that the
installation of the new parking arrangements was now almost completed, with new
barriers, new signs in place and much improved security for both the patient and staff
car parks. The final piece of the jigsaw would be an extension to the staff car park to
accommodate the 30 or so staff who cannot find spaces at the moment in the areas
dedicated for their use.

Sue James, Chief Executive said ‘I know that there have been one or two teething
problems as we have implemented the biggest change in car parking arrangements at
The Manor for many years. However, we were determined to ensure that patients and
visitors could park more easily, and I am very pleased that we have achieved this. I
regret that staff have been inconvenienced, but I hope that the worst of the problems
will soon be over. We have worked closely with staff in the planning and
implementation of these new arrangements and, as a result of the discussions we have
had, we have reduced the planned charges, installed much improved security and
extended the staff car park. We are now able to offer a much better service to our
patients - and that after all is what we are here for.’
