MISSION:
To	give	students	the	opportunity	to	practice	writing	skills	learned	in	the	classroom	and	to	encourage	the	art	of	creative	writing.

RuLES:
	1.	   The	contest	is	open	to	all	WCS	and	FSSD	students	in	Kindergarten	through	12th	grade.

	 .	   Each	entry	must	be	postmarked	by	March	19,	2010.	
	 .	
3      Student’s	name	must	be	printed	on	each	page	of	the	essay.

	 .	   Information	on	entry	form	must	be	printed.	
	 .	
5      Each	essay	must	be	neatly	printed	or	typed.

	 .	   The	judges	reserve	the	right	to	reject	entries	for	story	content	or	lack	thereof	and	the	right	to	withhold	prizes	without	notice.	
Elementary Category:	 (Kindergarten	–	5th	grade)	Essays	must	be	250	words	–	500	words	
Middle School Category:	 (6th	grade	–	8th	grade)	Essays	must	be	350	words	–	1,000	words	
High School Category:	 (9th	grade	–	12th	grade)	Essays	must	be	500	words	–	1,500	words
Contest	winners	will	be	notified	by	phone	or	mail	the	week	of	April	19,	2010.	Trophies	will	be	awarded	to	first	place	winners	in	
grades	K–12	at	the	award	ceremony	in	May.	Entries	that	do	not	have	an	entry	form	stapled	to	them,	have	an	incomplete	form,	
and	are	plagiarized	will	be	subject	to	disqualification.	Your	essay	becomes	the	property	of	the	Family	Resource	Center;	therefore,	
please	make	a	copy	for	your	records.
