CONSTITUTION OF TRAVEL EMINENCE AGENCY (T.E.A.)
ARTICLE I
Name of the Organization
Section 1: The name of this organization shall be Travel Eminence Agency
(T.E.A.).
ARTICLE II
Purpose of the Organization
Section 1: T.E.A.’s (Travel Eminence Agency) mission is to provide an outlet for
students’ needs to travel and get off campus for recreational and educational purposes,
and to teach students management and event planning skills.
ARTICLE III
Qualifications for Membership
Section 1: It is hereby acknowledged that the T.E.A. at TCNJ insures that the
policies and practices pertaining to the membership of our organization do not
discriminate based on sex, race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, marital
status, handicap, age, sexual orientation, and lifestyle. It is also hereby understood
that the only exemptions to this claim may be due to the sex or religious composition
of our organization, which is allowable by law.
ARTICLE IV
Officers of the Organization
Section 1: The elected officers of this organization shall be:
President
Vice-President
Treasurer
Secretary
Historian
Section 2: Term of office shall be one school year. However, if an officer is elected
into position during the course of the school year, their term of office is until the next
election.
Section 3: It shall be the duty of the president:
To chair all club meetings; to moderate and oversee all competitions and club
discussions and shall vote only in the event of a tie; and shall oversee all
major aspects of the organization. Maintain the club’s web site and handle
all issues pertaining to site maintenance. The President shall also act as a
leader to all Executive Board members and make sure they are performing
properly in their duties.
Section 4: It shall be the duty of the vice-president:
To execute the President’s duties in his/her absence; handle all public
relations; and perform duties assigned by the President.
Section 5: It shall be the duty of the treasurer:
To maintain T.E.A.’s budget; maintain club finances and the treasury; to
serve as the liaison to the Student Finance Board; and to keep track of club
inventories.
Section 6: It shall be the duty of the secretary:
To take accurate minutes at club meetings and distribute them to members
and to log all events (number of people, contact people, winners, etc.). His or
her job is to also check and maintain club e-mail.
Section 7: It shall be the duty of the historian:
To keep complete and accurate records illustrating T.E.A.’s activities, and to
take pictures or collect members’ photos illustrating club activities. It also
shall be his or her duty to create itineraries and phone-trees for all club trips.
Section 8: Positions stated in Article IV, Section 1 constitute the Executive Board.
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I
Membership
Section 1: Any student who is interested in the purpose of T.E.A. should show up
at the next meeting, and fulfill the necessary requirements to become an active
member.
Section 2: Types of Membership: Different standings of activeness on the club are
active and inactive.
a) Active members are members who fill out the club survey and sign the
club contract. Active members must also pay the annual $20.00
membership fee. They are also expected to participate in the various
competitions of the club, from registering competitors or attending the
event. Attendance will be taken at every club and committee meeting.
b) Inactive members are members who fail to meet any of the three of the
above criteria. Inactive members are unable to run, vote in elections, or go
on club trips.
Section 3: If an Executive Board member is found by the Active Membership
and/or the remainder of the Executive Board to not be fulfilling his/her duties, the
Executive Board may remove that individual after having a 2/3 vote of Active
Membership at a meeting and the Executive Board elections shall be held to fill the
position. The same procedure shall be upheld if an Executive Board member resigns.
If an Executive Board member is impeached from his or her position, they may still be
a club member, but cannot run for another position for the rest of their time at TCNJ
indefinitely.
Section 4: Elections: all active members are eligible to run for Executive Board
position.
Section 5: Elections are held at the beginning of each school year and are also
held when an Executive Board member is removed or impeached as stated in Article
I, Section 5.
ARTICLE II
Financial Provisions
Section 1: TCNJ T.E.A. events shall be funded by the club members themselves.
Each club member is required to pay an annual $20.00 fee if interested in becoming
an Active Member that is collected by the Treasurer and will be directly deposited in
the club treasury. This fee will be due on the third club meeting of every school year.
However, if someone were to join after the third meeting, he or she is expected to pay
the $20.00 fee before his or her first club trip.
ARTICLE III
Advisor(s)
Section 1: Advisors shall be selected from any member of any department’s
faculty or administration that is willing to support the cause of T.E.A. The Executive
Board shall approve any candidate for this position with a 2/3 vote of the general
body.
ARTICLE IV
Amendments
Section 1: Any amendments to the constitution must be agreed upon by a 2/3 vote
of present active members, and be supported unanimously by the Executive Board.
Section 2: If these conditions are met, these amendments will be brought before
the Legal and Governmental Affairs internal committee of the Student Government
Association to be approved.
