Anda Anastasescu Pianist Anda Anastasescu’s performances across the world have been consistently praised for their passion, poetry and imagination. 'Yet another pianist!' you may think. No, of this calibre the world can never have enough’ wrote the celebrated French critic Antoine Goléa. Since she was unanimously awarded First Prize in the Debussy International Piano Competition in Paris, Anda has performed in prestigious festivals and concert halls on five continents. She has also toured extensively with her own orchestra, The London Schubert Players, and broadcast for the BBC, French National Radio and Romanian National Radio and TV. Anda Anastasescu has been a consistent performer and promoter of Constantin Silvestri. Her campaigning work over 18 years sparked the international revival of his memory. She has given many international Premières of works by Silvestri, Enescu and Lipatti and her performances in the Wigmore Hall established Silvestri as a ‘composer awaiting thorough investigation’ (International Piano). She was artistic director of A Romanian Musical Adventure 2005-2006, the first London festival of Romanian composers, and of the 2007 London Schubert Players Chamber and Opera Series. In 2008 she created the European Union award-winning project, Invitation to Composers. Anda Anastasescu is a Commander of the Order of Cultural Merit in her native Romania and President of the Constantin Silvestri International Foundation. In Romania, she founded the Silvestri International Festival, Competition, Summer Academy and Composition Forum. In the UK she established the international Silvestri Composition Prize; the Silvestri Scholarships - awarded yearly to young Romanian musicians to study in Britain; and the record company RMA (Romanian Musical Adventure).
