					Anda Anastasescu

Pianist Anda Anastasescu’s performances across the world have been
consistently praised for their passion, poetry and imagination. 'Yet another
pianist!' you may think. No, of this calibre the world can never have
enough’ wrote the celebrated French critic Antoine Goléa. Since she was
unanimously awarded First Prize in the Debussy International Piano
Competition in Paris, Anda has performed in prestigious festivals and
concert halls on five continents. She has also toured extensively with her
own orchestra, The London Schubert Players, and broadcast for the BBC,
French National Radio and Romanian National Radio and TV.

Anda Anastasescu has been a consistent performer and promoter of
Constantin Silvestri. Her campaigning work over 18 years sparked the
international revival of his memory. She has given many international
Premières of works by Silvestri, Enescu and Lipatti and her performances
in the Wigmore Hall established Silvestri as a ‘composer awaiting thorough
investigation’ (International Piano). She was artistic director of A
Romanian Musical Adventure 2005-2006, the first London festival of
Romanian composers, and of the 2007 London Schubert Players Chamber
and Opera Series. In 2008 she created the European Union award-winning
project, Invitation to Composers.

Anda Anastasescu is a Commander of the Order of Cultural Merit in her
native Romania and President of the Constantin Silvestri International
Foundation. In Romania, she founded the Silvestri International Festival,
Competition, Summer Academy and Composition Forum. In the UK she
established the international Silvestri Composition Prize; the Silvestri
Scholarships - awarded yearly to young Romanian musicians to study in
Britain; and the record company RMA (Romanian Musical Adventure).
