that have made it difficult to play to his potential. Chase shares, “My goals going forward are to get healthy
enough to reach my full potential”.
Both Spencer and Chase credit P-3 (Peak Performance Project) and Marcus Elliot for a much improved
level of conditioning, power, and strength. Chase and Spencer are the top two juniors in Santa Barbara and
play for perennial powerhouse SBHS. Melton, a senior is being heavily recruited by a number of division one
schools, but Berkeley is at the top of his list. Simon, only a junior, has already gotten a great deal of attention
from USC, UCLA, Georgia, Florida State, and others.
Asked how tennis has impacted their lives, both were quick to share that it has given them tremendous
opportunities to travel, and meet a variety of people and an avenue for competitive and personal growth. As
for their favorite tournament, Chase loved the environment at Kalamazoo and Spencer picked the Orange
Bowl, where he will be playing this December.
They both voiced gratitude for the support they receive from their families (Art and Sandy Melton, and
CathyAnn and Brad Simon with special thanks to Derek (Spencer’s older brother). They are also thankful to
the club, staff and membership for all the support, especially the great food at the café.
Good luck boys and make it a healthy great 2010!
