Final Sample Point, Evidence and Explanation Paragraph (PEE)

Final Sample Point, Evidence and Explanation
Paragraph (PEE)

The very first sentence of the story creates tension for
the reader.
‘I can assure you’ said I, ‘that it will take a very tangible
ghost to frighten me!’
Firstly, the reader seems to be coming in on the middle of
the conversation and may wonder what went before. Next,
the narrator is boasting that he is not scared of ghosts.
We know that, in a typical ghost story, whenever somebody
makes this kind of boast, they are inevitably proved wrong.
Therefore, the reader is now wondering how and when the
speaker will be forced to accept that he has to believe in
ghosts.
