Alps High Tour 2007 Karwendel range, Austria A strenuous 6 day walk around the Karwendel range, involving carrying equipment from hut to hut. Arrival Day - Sat 8th Sept. Fly in to either Munich or Innsbruck airport. Train Journey to Seefeld. Overnight accommodation in Seefeld (1,180m.) Day 1 – Sun 9th Sept. 3 hours; Descent 700m Train journey to Mittenwald. Take Germany’s second highest cable car, to top of West Karwendel spitz (2,384m.) Some optional Via Ferratas at top of mountain. Journey to Hochland Hutte (1,623m.) Day 2 – Mon 10th Sept. 5 ½ hours; Ascent 200m; Descent 100m Hochland Hutte to Karwendel Haus (1,771m.) Day 3 – Tue 11th Sept. 7 ½ hours; Ascent 1,500m; Descent 1,400m Karwendel Hutte to Halleranger Haus (1,768m.) Possibility to ascend Birkkar spitze (2,749 m.) Day 4 – Wed 12th Sept. 5 ½ hours; Ascent 700m; Descent 600m Halleranger Hutte to Hotel Seegrube (1,966m.) Possibilities of several peaks (2,600 m.) along the way. Day 5 – Thu 13th Sept. 6 hours; Ascent 300m; Descent 400m Hotel Seegrube to Solstein Hutte (1,806m.) Peaks (2,600 m.) and or Via Ferrata day. Day 6 – Fri 14th Sept. 5 ½ hours Ascent 400m; Descent 200m Solstein Hutte to Seefeld. Round to Nordlinger Hutte (2,239m.) – some Via Ferrata possibilities on the way. Then either direct to cable car and funicular to Seefeld, or over Reither Spitze (2,400 m.) And Seefelder Joch. Departure day – Sat 15th Sept. Put feet up and go home.
