How to use your Electronic Benefits Transfer card
Your Centrelink „Immediate Payment‟ has been paid to you in the form of a disposable plastic card. This is
known as an Electronic Benefits Transfer or EBT card.

The card will allow you to withdraw the payment from an Automatic Teller Machine displaying the Cashcard
logo.
With the EBT card you were also given an envelope containing a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to
operate this card.
(Please note that your PIN is printed inside the envelope—tear off the perforation to open the envelope and
view the PIN).

Do
• Keep the card and the PIN separate.
• Only use this card at Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) that display the Cashcard logo (as pictured on the
  back of this brochure).
• Make one withdrawal of the full amount issued to this card. (The amount issued to the card has been
recorded on the back of this brochure.) Cashcard ATMs only dispense $20 and $50 notes.
• When using the EBT card at the Cashcard ATM to withdraw your money or make a balance enquiry you will
be asked to accept or decline the transaction fee. Accept the charge by answering yes. The fee will not be
deducted from the balance on the card or from your entitlements. The full amount issued to the card will be
  available for you to withdraw.
• Once your payment has been fully withdrawn, bend or cut the card in half.
• If the card is lost or stolen, or you have any other problems with the card, contact Centrelink as soon as
  possible.

Don’t
• Don‟t go to the bank or building society if you have any problems using the card in the Cashcard Automatic
Teller Machine. Contact Centrelink as soon as possible.
• Don‟t write the PIN on the card, or on any item that is carried with the card.
• Don‟t damage or bend the card before you have made your full withdrawal.
• Don‟t reveal your PIN to anyone else.
• Don‟t use the card at EFTPOS facilities, e.g. supermarkets, petrol stations.
• Don‟t withdraw less than the full amount issued to the card. (The amount issued to the card has been
recorded on the back of this brochure.) Cashcard ATMs only dispense $20 and $50 notes.
