Mizzou was found 1839 as the first public university west of the Mississippi River and the first state university in Thomas Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase territory.
The Region V Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Program Committee of the National Society of Black Engineers sponsors this event. The National Society of Black Engineers was founded in 1975 by six gentlemen at Purdue University to help recruit, retain, and maintain black engineers. Today our organization is International in scope and comprised of over 20,000 members. Region V represents the 12 states from Texas to Louisiana and as far North as North Dakota. Our mission is:

To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. Purpose Our program was started with the goal of helping pre-college students aspire toward higher education and to consider, in particular, careers in mathematics, the sciences and engineering.
What is the Summer Camping Conference? This camping conference event will focus on academic excellence in middle school, high school, and college. There is an emphasis on technical competitions and events which will allow students to learn the necessities of teamwork. The workshops and competitions will draw attention to the various aspects of opportunities within science and engineering along with the challenges of preparing for college. All participants are asked to register at https:/nol.nsbe.org. Conference Highlights Engineering Design Project Try-Math Campus Tour of University of Missouri Columbia Entertainment every night of the conference Who can attend? All students between the ages 12-17 who plan to attend school during the Fall 2007 semester. Cost The cost will be $30 for members and $35 for non-members if your child is registered before July 15, 2007. After July 15, 2007, registration will increase to $40 (on-site rate). The cost ill include room and board for the entire stay as well as all supplies necessary to participate in workshops and competitions.
