                   RF and Microwave Lab

In this laboratory, students will learn to work with basic RF and
microwave test equipment, and measure the properties of
RF/microwave systems. Test equipment we will use include slotted
lines, power meters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers and
network analyzers. We will explore propagation on transmission
lines ─ reflection and transmission coefficients and the design of an
impedance matching network; antenna patterns; and a few other
basic systems. Towards the end of the semester, will we have a
project of some kind ─ perhaps building a simple radar, or building a
microwave amplifier out of discrete components, and testing the
properties of the amplifier.

Co-requisites ─ EE 434.
