Getty Images Submission Requirements and Contract overview This document highlights some of the main points of the contract that you will need to sign to submit to them and touches on the key parts of our Submission Requirements. Submission requirements – the main points • All images must be uncompressed 47.5-52 MB TIFF files, (flattened, with no layers, paths or channels), 24 bit RGB Color, 8 bits per channel (8 bit file) before importing into the Getty Images Preflight Tool. This tool will test the TIFFs against the parameters set out in the Submission Requirements and convert the files to high quality JPEGs that you can then submit to us without further processing. Final JPEGs must be supplied on a CD or DVD. • We do not accept RAW files or JPEGs. • All isolated visible logos must be removed via retouching prior to submission, as must dust, hair, scratches etc. • Model and Property releases are required with all images where relevant and must be supplied in digital format. • Metadata (also known as captioning) must also be supplied to us digitally in IPTC, XMP, Excel or Text File formats. • If you are shooting on a 35mm digital camera it must an approved camera from this list: Nikon D200, Nikon D2X, Canon EOS 30D, Canon EOS 5D, Canon EOS 1D MK 11, Canon EOS 1Ds, Canon EOS 1Ds MK 11. All medium format backs (e.g. backs by Phase One and Leaf etc) produce sufficiently high quality images to be accepted by us. • We only accept digital files from scanned film if they have been drum scanned by a professional scanning house or scanned using the approved desk top film scanners from the following list: Imacon 949, 848, 646, 343; Fuji Lanovia Quattro and Finescan; Creo Eversmart Supreme 11, Eversmart Select 11, IQsmart 1,2,3 The Getty Images Contributor Agreement highlights • Our standard Contributor Agreement is a worldwide exclusive contract with a 2 year initial term that covers all of our creative and editorial still collections. • The agreement allows Getty Images to move imagery between collections and license models, subject to some conditions that the photographer can select. • The photographer cannot submit any images that we accept, or any Similars, to any other Third Party for licensing until after the Agreement with Getty Images has terminated. • The photographer retains the right to use any images that we accept for self promotional uses such as personal websites, fine art limited edition prints and books that promote their fine art, but cannot license them themselves. • Photographers receive monthly statements containing details of the royalties due, and information on licenses granted. Payment is made via electronic funds transfer or check three months after the statement. • The agreement is with Getty Images (US) Inc., a US-based corporation incorporated in New York state, so contributors who are non-US tax residents will be subject to a default 30% US withholding tax on their royalties’ income from US clients. According to the IRS, you can possibly reduce or eliminate this withholding tax altogether if there is an income tax treaty between the US and the country you are tax resident in. • We encourage you to carefully review the Contributor Agreement and understand your rights and obligations before entering into the agreement with Getty Images.
