President’s Message
Summer has arrived and the calves are growing as fast as the corn. In the east we have been blest with good rain and warm weather. The pastures and crops have grown as well as any year I can remember. Fair and show season is upon us. Over the next several months the association will sanction three shows. Our National show will be held the end of July in Quincy Illinois. Kevin Wolf works hard to put this show together every year! Fall will bring The World Beef Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin held the end of September. Thank you to Merrie Nimmer for her work in organizing this show. Finally in early October we will participate in the Keystone International Livestock Exposition located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Many of our breeders will exhibit cattle at these shows and work at promoting our great breed. Get involved it is a fun time and it benefits the White Park breed. Other breeders will set up White Park displays at shows, fairs and events throughout the country. Over the years I have heard the comments that white cattle bring less money than others, but I will tell you I have heard many stories where breeders have worked at educating their customers about the quality of our breed and they now receive a premium for their White Park Cattle. I say thank you to all the breeders that work hard at promoting their cattle and I hope you are rewarded with the premiums that you deserve. To those of you who have not been involved in these events I encourage you to seek out ways to promote our cattle and be involved. I am convinced that White Park breeders are among the friendliest in the cattle industry. If you come to a show or an event and need help or have a question you will find your fellow breeders ready to lend a helping hand or share their experience with you. The people you meet and the friends you make along the way help make life’s journey special. Glenn T Wenger President

Member Profile Our Farm LLC Taylor, TX
Our Farm, on the edge of the picturesque Texas Hill Country near Austin, is 200 acres of rolling farmland with a school house, barns, stables, fields, ponds, and a host of domesticated animals. Our Farm helps children in special education learn how to give and receive care, about responsibility and cooperation, and the joys of learning and achievement. The mission at Our Farm is to provide children in special education opportunity for success in life using animal-assisted therapy and nature study to build confidence, cooperation, and achievement. The children at Our Farm learn differently from the way most children do, have little selfconfidence, and have difficulty forming positive relationships. They need more than traditional school settings to succeed. Our Farm is founded on the understanding that animals and nature are inherently interesting to children. Safe, careful interaction with animals provides a new way for children to develop the social skills necessary for participation in learning and life. Our Farm lets children experience caring for and loving animals. Through these simple activities, they learn responsibility and find opportunities for achievement and success. Children can acquire the ability to form strong, positive relationships by caring for animals. In the weekly, half-day sessions during the school year, children progress through a variety of formal and informal learning situations so that they develop new behaviors and learn new information about the world around them. Learning that responsibility for others is both a joy and hard work is a major step at
Our Farm. Recognition of achievement is a vital part of the experience at Our Farm and especially important to these children who have seldom had positive recognition from adults or peers. Our Farm is a subsidiary of ALMARAH ARABIANS, Bazy Tankersley, 4101 N Bear Canyon Rd, Tucson, Arizona who have been a members since 1996. In keeping with the mission of the larger farm (Our Farm, L.L.C.), the American British White Park Cattle here are being raised in an attempt to rebuild their rare breed. The White Park cattle that were once located at the Arizona ranch have moved to Texas and are making their stand at Our Farm LLC in Taylor, Texas. If anyone is interested in learning more about the Our Farm operation please contact the ABWPA office for their contact information.
