Educational Platform
“We are aware that most of the District’s educational policy is set by the state and we will abide
by these guidelines.
“Every single high school graduate within Trenton should have two options, 1) college 2) work.
We must make it our business to ensure that every graduate has this opportunity.”
“There are five priority areas that we must focus our attention if we are to prepare our students to
compete in a global marketplace and they are: health, education, safety, employment, and
recreation.”
“We will not put superficial timelines on these priorities. We recognize that progress is about
partnership.”
“Budgeting is about priorities”
Here are my 10 Priorities for our Education System:
1. Reestablishing a VoTech Program for High School Students.
2. College Preparation
a. Request a review of all college preparatory programs. Students should have access to
quality advanced courses, resources, and qualified instructors.
3. Class Room Changes
a. In class support staff for Grades K-3.
b. Curriculum model based on successful models.
c. Strengthen math, science, and technology programs from the earliest grades.
d. Strengthen art and music through competitive grant applications. Our students need a
venue for self-expression and art & music has a proven track record.
4. Students
a. Drop-Out Prevention Commission
i. In partnership with the Superintendent, parents, teachers, and other
community partners, attention will be given to every single student who
decides to drop out of school.
b. Positive Reinforcement
i. We will expand the mentoring/tutoring programs to include all of our local
universities, churches, and civic groups.
c. Anti-Bullying
i. With the help of state models and successful programs we will begin an anti-
bullying program in the 3rd grade.
