Journal Entry #1 – The perfect vacation Describe your dream vacation. Where would you go for a week if you could go anywhere in the world? Why did you pick this particular place? Who would you bring with you? What would you want to do during your vacation? Please remember it is about the topic so the more details and the more descriptive, the better your journal entry. Minimum lines: 5 Journal Entry #2 If you could be a superhero what would your powers be? Limit yourself to three powers. What would your name be? Would you have a public identity that everyone would know? Would you want to live in a small town or a large city? Who would know about your superhero identity? Would you be a part of a team or a duo? Who would you want to be on your team? Every hero would have their kryptonite or weakness, what would yours be? Journal Entry #3 – Introvert or extrovert? An introvert is a person who is shy or reserved. An extrovert is a person who is outgoing or unreserved. Explain if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert and why. How do you act with friends and family? How are you at school? Included examples of what you like to do and what activities you never see yourself doing.
Journal Entry #4 - What if . . . ? Take a moment to use your imagination and your skills of persuasion. In my hand imagine I have a check for 10,000 dollars. I must give the money to any of my deserving students, but I can only choose one. Write me a letter and include why I should give you the money, what will you do with the money, qualities that make you deserving of the 10,00 bucks. Write in a formal tone, as if I am your boss, wait a second, I am your boss. Journal Entry 5 – School of your design Imagine that you are asked to design a school for middle school students. You have the freedom to choose what the school will look like and what the day will look like. You also have the freedom to choose what you will learn and who will teach it. Describe your specially designed school. Minimum of 6 lines. Journal #6 – personal challenge There is a saying, “when a door closes, go through a window.” An explanation for this saying is that life can be difficult, but we must create another opportunity for ourselves rather than another problem. Describe a time in your life when you have had a problem or a difficult time. Describe the problem and how it was resolved. If it hasn’t been resolved, how have you tried to resolve it? Always remember, your attitude can help or hurt at situation. What was your mood?
Journal #7 – Time travel Once again it is time to use your imagination. You can travel in time, but you can only travel once and return back to the present. Would you travel to the future or travel to the past? When would to travel to? Where would you be? Give three reasons why you have chosen to travel to that time period. Min. of 6 lines Journal #8 Freewrite You can write about any school appropriate topic of your choice. Write a story or tell what you did on the weekend. Journal #9 Restaurant review Restaurant reviewers tell readers whether or not they should visit particular restaurants. Think about what makes you like or dislike a restaurant. Now write your own review of a restaurant. Include information about the food, the prices, the service (how you were treated), cleanliness of the restaurant, appearance of the restaurant and rate it on a scale between 1 star and 5 stars (1 being the worst, 5 being the best).
