LOCAL COMPANIES SUPPORT COMMUNITY EVENT
North Jersey--Area companies are providers of significant support for the annual UFC
Bergen Bike Tour, which will be held this year on Sunday, September 30, 2007.
Proceeds will benefit two of Bergen County’s premier community organizations—
Tomorrows Children’s Fund at Hackensack Medical Center, and the Volunteer Center of
Bergen County.
This year’s event will again be held at Darlington Park in Mahwah. Included are
50-, 25-, and 10-mile routes for cyclists of every level that wind through scenic areas of
16 northern Bergen County towns. A special Kid’s Ride, and a family fun picnic, with
DJ, clowns, games and home cooked barbeque, round out the day.
Unicyn Financial Corp. (UFC), specializing in medical financing and leasing for
nearly 26 years, has signed on to be the presenting sponsor for the fourth year in a row.
TD Banknorth is Diamond sponsor ($5,000). AT&T, Columbia Bank, NJ Society of
CPA’s Bergen Chapter, PNC Bank, Ramsey Auto Group, and Tanis & Sons are
Platinum sponsors ($2,500).
Phil Murphy, of Murphy, Miller & Baglieri, LLP, and chairman of the Bike
Tour, says, “This is an amazing event in that it is entirely local. Thanks to the
participation of all our corporate sponsors, every year for the past 11, we have turned in
at least 75 percent of the proceeds to our two charities. This far surpasses many events of
this kind. We are very proud of our philanthropic efficiency”
The Bike Tour Committee for 2007 is seeking additional corporate sponsors to
help offset the administrative costs of the event, so that 100% of the money raised goes
directly to help the people and programs of the Volunteer Center and Tomorrows
Children’s Fund.
In addition to sponsors mentioned above, 2007 Gold sponsors ($1000) are:
Applebees; BD; Berry, Verduin & Koch, LLC; Bolkema Fuel Co., Inc.; Compensations
Solutions; Flavor and Fragrance Specialties; Garden State Wiper, Inc., Harwood Lloyd,
LLC; The Hunter Group; Murphy, Miller & Baglieri, LLP; Myron Corp.; Andrew F.
Rubenstein, MD; Skymark Holdings, Inc.; Topline Products Co.; WithumSmith+Brown.
Tomorrows Children’s Fund was established by loving parents seeking help and
relief for their desperately ill children, in association with physicians committed to
providing the best possible care. The Fund addresses the critical needs of families facing
the anguish of childhood cancer by providing a warm, healthy and loving atmosphere for
children in treatment; a wide range of services to relieve emotional and financial stress;
state-of-the-art medical care; and funding for research on childhood cancer and serious
blood disorders.
The Volunteer Center of Bergen County works with more than 600 public and
private non-profit agencies in and near Bergen County that value and need the services of
volunteers. The Volunteer Center links individuals, groups, organizations and
corporations with rewarding volunteer opportunities that fit their interests, abilities,
schedules and locations, while allowing them to make a difference in the community by
addressing serious social concerns such as hunger, literacy, poverty, and the needs of
children, the elderly and disabled. The Volunteer Center operates a home repair service
for the elderly and disabled, which in 2006 served 2,000 clients and performed over
4,000 repairs, at no cost to the clients, except for parts used. The Volunteer Center also
sponsors two mentoring programs in which caring adults are friends, role models and
mentors to abused children and parents and families in need of guidance and support.
Last year over 200 children and adults participating in these programs were helped by
mentors.
