MyEclipse 8.0 M1: Eclipse Galileo with Struts 2 and Eclipse Profiler Support for the Enterprise
By Genuitec
Dated: Sep 29, 2009
First milestone release built on top of Eclipse 3.5 offers a powerful Java profiler that can profile any Java
application, Eclipse plug-in or Applet and Struts 2 support for building enterprise-ready Java Web
applications.
Flower Mound, TX -- Genuitec, LLC, a founding and strategic member of the Eclipse Foundation, today
announced the first milestone (M1) release of MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 8.0. The newest release
built to support Eclipse Galileo delivers a powerful Java Profiler that can be used as a standalone tool
outside of MyEclipse to profile any Java application, Eclipse plug-in or applet, as well as industry-leading
support for the much-requested Struts 2 framework, enabling the development of enterprise-class Java Web
applications.
The MyEclipse Enterprise Workbench 8.0 M1 release also marks a first in the Java developer-tools space
with the inclusion of the MyEclipse Lite technology which will allow developers to remove, add or upgrade
just the portions of the IDE they use. MyEclipse is the first large-scale Enterprise IDE to address the
“bloated” concerns of developers by allowing them to easily remove or re-add entire feature stacks in the
IDE depending on their tooling needs, leading to a trimmed down and optimized development environment.
“The sheer number of new features and enhancements in MyEclipse 8.0 make it an unparalleled product in
the development tools space.” said Riyad Kalla, MyEclipse product manager for Genuitec. “Starting at $30
per seat, users are getting the best value from what has become a highly competitive piece of software that's
on par with anything else available from high-priced vendors. Existing MyEclipse users will be delighted
and surprised once they see the full scope of what MyEclipse 8.0 will entail in October.”
Customers will also enjoy support for the newly released Eclipse 3.5, updated ICEfaces libraries in
addition to the newly-added support for Jetty 7 - the popular, lightweight Java HTTP server and servlet
container. Further enhancements include notable improvements to UML 2, new support for Sun App Server
9.1 and enhanced redeployment/reloading support for WebLogic, Glassfish and Sun App Server as well.
“MyEclipse 8.0 is a labor of love that represents our commitment to deliver the best and most affordable
software development technology,” said Todd Williams, vice president of technology for Genuitec. “The
enhancements from our dedicated team have proved that our tools are on par with any other commercial
product, but are much cheaper to license. I would challenge any other IDE to match the breadth and depth
of the overall MyEclipse feature set – especially at the overwhelming value of pennies a day.”
The production release of MyEclipse 8.0, currently slated for October, is poised to deliver a comprehensive
Internet Explorer (IE) JavaScript Debugger (for versions 6 and higher), native WTP Dynamic Web Project
and Maven project support.
MyEclipse 8.0 M1 is delivered on top of the newest Pulse Eclipse Management Platform, which allows
users to efficiently customize and maintain their MyEclipse environments both at the individual and
corporate level. Subscriptions to MyEclipse are available annually for about $30, $50 or $150 for the
Standard, Professional and Blue editions respectively.
MyEclipse 8.0 M1 is available for all editions at www.myeclipseide.com and is free for a trial period. Free
trial users and those with current subscriptions receive all upgrades and full support at no additional charge.
