2.1 IT Project Prioritization Tool
There are many projects that your company could do at any time, but limited resources require
prioritization and setting objectives. Deciding which projects to complete, which to postpone, and
which to eliminate can be a very emotional and political process.
By using Info-Tech‟s IT Project Prioritization Tool, you will be able to effectively and efficiently
prioritize the list of initiatives that your company will be working on and ensure that your projects
are aligned with the overall goals of the business.
The first step in sorting your initiatives is fairly straightforward. Use one or both of the following
matrices below to sort your projects into four separate groups. These four groups of projects
should then be carried forward and prioritized using the “2.2 Info-Tech Priority Index” worksheet
later on in this document.

This framework shows the four generic strategies for projects: Pursue Aggressively, Scale Down,
Pursue Cautiously, and Terminate Immediately.
