Curt Kukert, MLS speech coach, took 11 students 5th & 6th Grade Went to Minot Symphony
to the Velva speech meet on Sat., Jan. 28th. These On Friday, Jan. 27th the 5th 7 6th graders from MLS
students & their coach have to be very dedicated-- went to The Minot Symphony Orchestra @ the Ann

The A & C girl’s basketball teams traveled to MLS-Sherwood celebrates Hundred’s Day

After that we each made a flag for our assigned country. Then
came our opening ceremony which consisted of a Parade of
Nations, speeches, lighting of the Olympic flame, releasing of
doves (paper, of course), reciting of the Olympic Oath &
entertainment. A special thank-you to King Brett Hefter for
carrying the Olympic torch to light the flame & helping us with
the Olympic Oath. Also, thanks to Kelli Volk for entertaining
us with 2 songs! You were spectacular!
After the opening ceremony came the competition! Dressed in
Jessica Nordmark & Kari Johnson pumped in 10 pts., the color of their country & wearing their country’s flag, the
Chelsea Smith laid up 8 pts., Britta O’Keeffe & students competed in bobsledding, the luge, sock (ice) hockey,
Jordan Schoenberg each tossed in 4 pts., Jenna & figure skating (wearing paper plates for skates!).
