you feel that the scale has become inaccurate. It is advisable to periodically check the calibration
of your scale with a test weight. The 402 must be calibrated with a 2kg precision test weight.

Remove all items from the top plate and turn the scale off.
Press and hold the DOWN ARROW key while switching the scale back on.
The scale shows ‘CAL’ briefly then ‘ZERO’.
Press the ON/TARE key. The scale shows ‘ADD’.
Place a 2kg test weight onto the top plate and wait for the scale to show ‘SAVE’.
Press the UP ARROW key to save the calibration value, the scale shows an ‘END’ message.
You must now switch off and then turn back on again to resume normal scale operation.

CURRENCY CHANGE INSTRUCTION AND INFORMATION

The Salter 402 currency information is contained in an EPROM module. This is a pre-
programmed memory device that is mounted on a plug-in printed circuit board. In the event of a
coin change, contact the Salter Sales Department at the address below for information
regarding new EPROM modules.

The EPROM rate chip is positioned on the underside of the coin scale. Remove the lid by pushing
the catch and pulling upwards.

                                          Push catch and lift
                                          compartment lid

The EPROM is situated directly beneath the lid. To remove, gently ease the chip from its socket.

                                        Pull EPROM gently
                                        upwards to remove chip
                                        from socket.

When inserting new chip, ensure that the replacement is inserted the correct way round into the
socket. Insert the chip into place by pushing down gently. Replace the compartment lid and your
coin scale will be ready for use.
