NOTICE TO RESIDENTS AND TAXPAYERS OF MAIDENCREEK TOWNSHIP Notice is given that the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Maidencreek, Berks County, PA, will hold a public hearing, followed by the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors on January 4, 2010 at 8:30 P.M. at the Maidencreek Township Building, 1 Quarry Road, Blandon, PA 19510, the purpose of which is to inform the public, receive public testimony followed by the regular meeting during which the Board intends to adopt an Ordinance adopting and approving an Inter-Municipal Cooperation Agreement with Richmond Township and the Borough of Fleetwood for the purpose of creating a Joint Municipal Comprehensive Plan. At the conclusion of the public hearing, the Board will convene its regular meeting during which the Board intends to adopt this same Ordinance. The Ordinance is summarized below, but the full text of the Ordinance may be examined without charge or copies obtained for actual cost of copying of the same at the Maidencreek Township Municipal Building, 1 Quarry Road, Blandon, PA 19510, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Diane Hollenbach -Township Manager SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MAIDENCREEK, BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, ADOPTING AND APPROVING AN INTERIM MUNICIPAL COOPERATION AGREEMENT WITH RICHMOND TOWNSHIP AND THE BOROUGH OF FLEETWOOD WITH REGARD TO JOINT MUNICIPAL PLANNING WHEREAS the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, Act of December 19, 1996, P.L. 1158 No. 177 (53 Pa. C.S.A. §2301, et seq.) provides that two or more municipalities in this Commonwealth may jointly cooperate in the exercise or performance of their respective governmental functions; and, WHEREAS the Township of Maidencreek, Richmond Township and the Borough of Fleetwood (the Municipalities) desire to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement in the planning, preparation, and ultimate adoption of a Joint Comprehensive Plan for the Municipalities; and, WHEREAS the parties intend to authorize, sign and perform under a Joint Agreement for this purpose. SECTION. 1. Agreement provides that the Township will enter into an Agreement to begin the process of preparing and completing a Joint Comprehensive Plan with Richmond Township and the Borough of Fleetwood. SECTION 2. Condition of the Agreement provides that the Agreement will only become effective if all municipalities adopt it. SECTION 3. Duration of the Agreement provides that the Agreement will remain in effect unless terminated with one year’s advance notice. SECTION 4. Purpose and Objectives of the Agreement describes the purpose as the commencement and completion of Joint Municipal Planning. SECTION 5. Financing provides that Financing will be done from the general fund of the Township. SECTION 6. Performance provides that the Township will perform in accordance with the Agreement. SECTION 7. Severability provides that the provision of the Ordinance is severable. SECTION 8. Effective Date provides that the Ordinance will become effective upon adoption. [Signature Lines Omitted]
